Walking over the tarmac toward our private plane felt normal by now. I'd been traveling all year round for most of my life. The difference right now was that I wasn't walking to the plane with my brother only, I was walking to the plane with my brother and Lando. Since he stayed with us, of course he had to fly with us to Canada.
Apparently Charles was coming with us too, he was just running late. This would just be a wonderful flight.
I took a place by the window. Carlos took his usual seat in the other side of the plane. I observed how Lando was on his way to sit down with Carlos but just as he was about to place his bag there, Charles rushed into the plane and took the seat before Lando had a chance. "Sorry mate, need to discuss some strategies."
Lando chuckled a little. "Yeah you do that. Surely you need it." Then he came over to sit by me. Or right next to me to be exact.
"You doing alright?" I nodded to him. We hadn't spoken since he helped me home two days ago and I wasn't sure if he knew I remembered the whole night. I was definitely drunk enough to forget everything, but I didn't. I remembered when he apologized, I remembered when he walked home with me, and I remembered how he carried me to my bed and told me that "he thought he hated me". What the hell was I supposed to do with that? He thought he did? So he didn't?
"I'm good, yeah. You?"
He nodded at first. "I'm good. Were you hungover at all yesterday?" I smirked as I looked at him when I saw his knowing face.
"I mean, enough. Not too bad to be honest. Could've definitely been worse." Now he raised his eyebrows.
"Really? I don't think I've seen you that drunk before."
I shrugged. "Usually I get a lot of blackouts though. So I think I was alright."
"You didn't get any blackouts then?" I shook my head. I smirked when I saw his shocked and almost scared face.
"Not one. It was very sweet seeing how much you care for me." He dropped his head back with a laugh.
"Oh shut up." I laughed too. "What was I supposed to do? Leaving you at the club to get home by yourself?" I shrugged.
"I did have my brother there, I don't think he'd leave me you know." He went quiet like he had something else on his mind. "What?"
"Do you remember when I came to get you in Italy? When you'd almost passed out?" I nodded slowly. He sighed before continuing. Instead of saying something, he brought up his phone and scrolled a little. Then he turned it to me. On the video I saw myself sitting in one of the booths, severely drunk. Then the person filmed Carlos flirting with a woman and dragging her away. In the end of the video the camera was turned to show that Charles was filming it. He laugh and walked over to the bar. The text to the video said 'apparently you leave family when there are girls around'. I felt a pain in my chest, not only by Charles but by Carlos. I expected Charles to behave that way by now, but my own brother turning his back when I could barely sit up straight.
I looked over to Carlos to see him sitting with Charles, laughing. it was all just so very hurtful. That he even spoke to Charles was weird to me, but seeing this?
"That's... not nice to see." He shook his head. "Were you on your way? Or why did you show up?" I took him a few seconds to answer me.
"I was in paddock, still working after the race." I frowned. "They sent the video in a group chat and when I saw it I felt like if I hadn't come no one would've helped you. And that was probably true." I nodded.
"This is what I'm saying. You're obsessed with me." He rolled his eyes to my try to leave the conversation about Carlos.
"I definitely am not obsessed with you. If anything, I think you're just saying this to get the attention away from the fact that you're obsessed with me." I raised my eyebrows in shock.
