I opened my eyes slowly to a sliver of sunshine between the drapes being the only light in my room.

My room?

I looked around, and even though it was dark in here, I stated pretty quickly that this was not my hotel room. The empty, white, sterilized room felt lonely. I looked around in hope for someone to ask what was going on. Of course I knew what got me here, but that I needed to stay?

I tried to sit up but I felt a shooting pain straight trough my head so I laid down on my soft pillow again. Instead I turned my head slowly to the side and saw a clock on the table next to me. It was 7 am. 7 in the fucking morning.

Guess I was alone here then.

I closed my eyes and the second later I hear the door open. I wished for it to be like Dani or maybe even Carlos. But the man who walked in was definitely not my brother. "What the hell are you doing here?" I felt on the first word already how hoarse my voice was.

Lando's head shot up to the sound of my voice. "You're awake. How are you?" I frowned at this unusual behavior. Why was he not being rude?

"What?" He sat down in the chair beside my bed and opened one of the two sandwiches he held. He took a bite, chewed and swallowed before opening his mouth again.

"How's your head?" Not once did his eyes leave mine and I was starting to get very suspicious to what he was up to.

"Spinning. Why are you not your usual unpleasant self?" He let out a low chuckle before taking another bite on his sandwich.

"Thought I could cut you some slack after that accident of yours. Carlos went back to get his laptop, but he should be on his way back soon." I shifted slightly in my bed, trying to find a sitting position that was fairly tolerable for my head. I shifted around in the bed for a few second before I felt the head of it lifting up.

I turned my head to Lando to see him sitting in the chair still, but now with a remote in his hand on which he was pressing a button. I gave him a half smile, still not buying this side of him. He had calm eyes as he looked at me and it was highly unsettling.

"Seriously could you stop? You've made me uncomfortable now so you can give it a rest. Go back to..."

"... my usual unpleasant self?," he finished with a smirk on his face, I nodded slightly, not finding another way to put it. "Someone had to stay with you so Carlos forced me to. Don't think I'm here willingly." Now he had a more disgusting tone in his voice.

"There he is." Lando couldn't help but let out a laugh and then he reached out to give me the other sandwich. "Thanks." I took a bite of it and immediately felt how hungry I had been.

"Seriously, how is your head?" I looked at him and then tried to look around the room to feel out my head.

"It's a little soggy, and I definitely have a worse headache than when I'm hungover. Otherwise just as normal." He nodded.

"Do you remember the accident?"

"I remember seeing George driving right into me. And then I remember how mad I got when I saw him walking away without an impact when I could barely stand up straight."

"He lost his breaks. He couldn't break when he got closer to you."

"But he could've turned, right? Gone around me or anything. Is he even hurt?" I felt my anger rising again and I saw on Lando's expression that he didn't want to answer.

"No, not really. No." I sighed and shook my head. Just the thought of him walking away was frustrating. "Just let that go, it won't do you any good to sulk." I looked at him in disbelief.

"What do you mean, let it go?"

He shrugged. "I just don't think you should spend time being angry at George. Focus on yourself."

"Are you actually saying these words? He drove straight into me. He could have killed me right in that moment, and you think I 'should focus on myself'?" He nodded, still eating his sandwich. I took a bite of mine too. I started to get annoyed with him. To think I actually missed this side of him once he was in fact nice to me earlier.

"I don't need this right now. You can leave, I'll be just fine until Carlos domes back." He started to shake his head to me.

"Nah, I promised him I'd stay with you."

"Lando, it's not like I'm dying and you don't even want to be here." He shrugged to me, making me think he'd accepted my offer and was leaving. He was not. He remained seated in his chair with an unbothered look, finishing off his sandwich.

I tried to turn around to lay on my side with my back to him, but when I did I felt the pain yet a again in my head. I felt a pair of hands turning me back.

Once I was on my back again I was also face to face with Lando who now had a strong hold of my shoulders, slightly pushing me down on the bed. His eyes were digging into mine with a stern look. For one second they slipped down further but just as quickly they were back focusing on my eyes.

"Staying here means keeping an eye on you. Just try and rest, Nat." I rolled my eyes when I listened to him talk.

"Could you like, not touch me?" He could've easily gotten annoyed with my attitude, but instead he let out a laugh and released his grip on me. He held his hands up in the air as a peace offering and then sat back down on the chair. His eyes were still not leaving me though, not for one second.

"Nat! ¿Cómo estás? ¿Estás bien?" I turned my head to Carlos who rushed in the room with a computer in one hand and a coffee in the other. I nodded to him.

"Sí, a pesar de me dejaste con el." I glanced at Lando when I mentioned him. He sat in his chair still, more confused than ever,

"¡Detén! Se gustarían si se conocieran." I just shrugged and ignored it. I knew it wasn't true anyway.

"Could you guys maybe speak some English too?" We both turned to Lando who sat clueless in his chair, trying to understand anything he could. He didn't.

"When can I get out of here?"

"They want to keep you another night for observation, then you're good to go." I sighed, trying to calm myself.

"Great. That's just great." I closed my eyes to calm myself down. Now I was stuck here for at least twenty four hours more. With Carlos, and apparently with Lando.

Wonderful.

"Why can't I just rest at my hotel?" I heard Carlos sigh next to me. "I'm just saying, it's not any different from me being stuck here, except here I'm stuck with the two of you."

"Cause they want to be able to check on you." I just rolled my eyes without looking at Lando.

I didn't say anything else after that and they didn't either. They just laughed at my avoidance in this situation. Like I was crazy for not wanting to stay in this house of sickness.

Hours went by where I just laid in bed, reimagining the accident. I went back and forth between being raging mad at George and trying to leave my anger behind.

"Why don't I get you something to eat?" I looked at Carlos for a second.

"And leave me with him again?"

"He's not gonna kill you, Nat." I turned to Lando who sat annoyingly innocent in the chair next to my bed.

"No, but I might kill him." He threw his hands up in the air, highly offended.

"I'll be quick, you want anything special?" I shook my head to him and watched him walk out of the room.

I turned to Lando with a slightly annoyed look. "Such a pleasure being here with you." I didn't mind coming up with an answer to him. "C'mon, sunshine. You're such a grump. You almost make me wanna leave."

"That's the plan."

"Oh I won't. Wouldn't let Carlos down like that." I rolled my eyes to him, already annoyed. This was gonna be a long night.

"Yeah, god forbid you'd ever let you boyfriend down."
