This was the second time I woke up draped in Lando's arms. I remembered I turned around back and forth a lot during the night, but there was no memory where he didn't hold me as close as he did right now.
I cleared my throat a few times before he started to slowly wake up. Finally he opened his eyes and they wandered over me. I was only wearing my underwear, it being the only piece of clothing I managed to find last night. A smile crept up on his face. "Couldn't stay away, could you?" It wasn't a smile, it was a smirk.
"If I remember correctly, which I do, it was you who asked me to sleep here. Not my idea, just didn't have the energy to get all the way home to my hotel," I explained to him.
"Your hotel is down the street, and how come you're still lying in my arms then? Last time I could barely see the back of your head." That made me sit up, leaving his embrace. The cold feeling spread to my arms and I realized once again that I didn't wear anything. It took half a second before I was under the sheets again.
Lando laughed entertained at me. "How come you didn't let me go for a second during the whole night?" He took a few seconds to answer.
"I was cold, and you weren't," he said and I raised my eyebrows in a 'really?'. He came closer to me. "Or maybe I just wanted to hold you." He said it so casual as he got up from the bed. Not long after he threw a T-shirt on me which I put on quickly before scanning the floor to look for my shorts. I saw them across the floor, making me remember how they got there. I curse myself for smiling a little at the thought. Lando caught the hint as I stared at them and actually gave them to me without a question. I smiled a little at him.
As I took a few extra breaths and yawns in the bed I watched as Lando put on an actual outfit. "Where you going?"
"To breakfast? You coming?" I shrugged.
"I guess." Then I stood up and threw on the cute shorts I wore last night. It wasn't as dressed up with Lando's T-shirt so it was casual enough for a breakfast.
I took a deep breath as we came outside. It was hot, as usual, and I enjoyed the walk we took to the place we were apparently eating breakfast at. We walked inside to a rather fancy restaurant. Lando walked in like he owned it. "Norris, for two?" The man nodded, like he'd been waiting for us.
"You made a reservation?" I asked him as we sat down by the table right by a large window.
He shrugged. "I always have reservation for two here." My jaw dropped.
"Excuse me?" He looked up at me, not understanding anything at all.
"What?"
"Is this like your standard place to bring your girls to breakfast?!" I was close to stand up and walk out of there when he started laughing. I frowned my eyebrows.
"I was kidding. Yes, I made a reservation." I let out a breath that I apparently was holding onto, and I even laughed with him a little.
"Why did you?"
"Cause I was sure you'd go home with me." I rolled my eyes at his smirky face. "Cause I think it's nice to take a girl out after a night like we had." He was whispering now, not letting anyone else hear what he had to say. I was blushing slightly.
"That is nice." He nodded and shrugged as he looked through the menu in front of him. It took me a few seconds to start to look through it myself, but once I got my eyes off him I searched the meals as well.
I read them all in peace until my heart froze like ice. Behind me was a voice I hoped belonged to someone I didn't know. I hoped it was just very similar to the man that ruined me and almost made me end my life. The voice moved to the right, still behind me. Though I could sneakily check how he looked like as he walked the other way to my right.
My heart hadn't beaten for a few seconds. It froze as I set my eyes on him for the first time in two years. I felt my throat starting to feel dry and I suddenly felt like I couldn't breathe normally.
"Nat?" I turned back to Lando who sat in front of me with an actual worried look on his face. I shook my head.
"Sorry, what?" I tried to pretend I hadn't just seen the man that broke me completely the last time I saw him.
"What's going on?" He asked it slowly. I shook my head again. I was going to say that it was nothing but he beat me to the word. "Don't say it's nothing, I can tell you're bothered by something."
"Just, someone that I don't really wanna meet just walked in." I waved it off. "It doesn't matter, let's just order." I tried to look through the pages again but my vision was blurred by tears that had formed in my eyes now.
"No, let's not. Let's get out of here." I was going to tell him it wasn't necessary but he was already standing. He even offered out his hand and I took it quickly. Soon enough we were out of there. "Why don't you get back to my place and I'll go buy us some breakfast and meet you there soon?" I sighed.
"Maybe I should go back to my hotel. It's a lot right now." I saw the disappointed that actually formed on his face. I sighed again. "Fine, be quick then. Otherwise I'll be gone when you come back." A smile grew on his face. He left me a key before he walked off the other way.
Fifteen minutes later, Lando came back to his apartment with a bag in his hand. I sat comfortably in his couch, watching some random movie that was on when I got here. He walked up to me and placed the white bag on the table in front of me. Then he left to the kitchen to grab, what it sounded like, plates and glasses.
He opened the bag and placed out freshly baked sandwiches and croissants and also two juices that he poured into the glasses. One of them was pink and one was green. He handed me both of them. I grabbed the green one first, tried it. Then I exchanged it with the other and tried that too. I almost didn't notice how Lando laughed at me when I was trying to choose.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" I looked up at him with the sandwich in my mouth. I shrugged.
"My ex boyfriend, Alex. We didn't really end on great terms. And I haven't seen him since we broke up two years ago. Until now." Lando nodded while eating.
"What happened?"
I sighed. I hadn't really talked to anyone except Dani about this and I wasn't sure why I was about to tell Lando Norris. "He wasn't very nice to me. Called me things, sometimes he hit me. But one night he tried to force himself on me. I wasn't in the mood but he didn't accept that. I got away before he actually did anything but after that I cut the contact completely. Afterwards I heard from a mutual friend that he slept with someone else that same night." I hadn't realized the tears that had fallen from my cheeks now. Lando got closer to me. I didn't know why I was shocked when he put his arms around me in a comforting hug.
"I'm so so sorry. Nat, I know I'm terrible to you sometimes..." I rolled my eyes and almost smiled. "But you didn't deserve that, no one does. I'm sorry." I shook my head and smiled a little.
"Yeah, I'm fine now. I just... I hadn't seen him since that night before today. It was hard, and more painful than I thought." Lando nodded.
"I understand. If I'll ever see him, I'll kill him for you." I laughed.
"Don't do that, but you can punch him if you want." Now he laughed as well. He took a closer grip around me. I breathed in his safe smell and as I did so, I realized that I'd come to think of the smell of him as safe.
What was happening to me?
