Maybe I expected too much
Maybe I thought things would be different
Maybe I romanticized the idea of us for too long
Maybe I should have been less persistent
For me, it's been a year
For you a few months
But you compliment my writing
You express your surprise
That words just flow from me
Like rain from the skies.
Interesting, great, unique (like me), praises you keep reciting
No wonder when it comes to you
My heart is always inviting
I haven't been in a relationship like this
So being patient and kind is new
But I'm trying
I'm trying to change to be perfect for you.
