It was a hallway crush
Admiring from afar
But just looking at you made me blush
Now look at where we are
Our conversations were short
They felt even shorter because we didn't have many
Trying to avoid your glances became my favorite sport
Now I'd stare into your eyes all day if you'd let me
Trying to be your friend first was a mistake
Friends loved mocking me every time I talked about you
The fact that they could hold telling you over my head
To them was the icing on the cake
Springtime is when we found out
We had the same feelings
And it was obvious to both of us
Without a doubt
We talked for months and months
Around 5 to be precise
But September is when it changed
Our relationship reached new heights
Our friend was tired of being our middle ground
And I was tired of being scared
It was time to make things clear for the second time around
Even though I was very unprepared
I did it anyway
No matter how scared and unprepared I was
I still knew what I had to say
Well, not really,
You know how it happened that day
For a while, I thought that maybe it was some weird form of fate
We met again in a better way
I will never figure it out
I just know that I'm happy
Happy I get to call you mine each and every day.
