I stared at my son.
He had been the one, indeed.
He looked at me awkwardly.

"Yeh sab.. tumne kia?", I asked in a voice above a whisper.
Anuj immediately glanced at me, his eyes still yearning for me.
Sumedh drew in a deep breath.
He looked panicked, as if he had been caught.

"Shruti ko mai jaanta hu. Woh roo rahi thi mere samne. Dard ho raha tha usko dekhkar. Uska dard ghatane ke liye jo mujhe sahi laga.. maine usse bas wahi karne ko kaha.", He said in an emotionless tone.

"Sorry but Sumedh Shah ko pura business world jaanta hai.", Anuj said skeptically, "Tumne jo kia woh bas apne top position ko mujhse bachane ke liye kia."

Sumedh looked at him sharply.

"Bachne ki zaroorat tumhein hai Kapadia. Mujhe jab kisiko harana hota hai na, tab uski company ka naam iss duniya se mit jaata hai. Tumhara toh sirf reputation kharab hua hai. I am cutting you slack because you are my ex step dad.", He said immediately, the attitude and gloss back.

"Lekin Sumedh.. yeh koi tareeka nehi hai.", I said softly.
Sumedh looked at me sharply. He didn't look pleased with the statement.
I noticed his jaw clench.

"Aapki opinion mujhe bilkul bhi nehi chahiye. Thank you.", He said coldly before walking past me.
Mister Shah immediately turned to follow him.
"Please do not follow me.", He said sharply. His father paused, a little hurt.
Sumedh stormed off.

I heard Mister Shah draw in a cold breath.
"Jo kuch bhi hua.. uske liye mai aapse maafi maangti hu Anuj. Woh-"

"Sach bahar aaya. Iss baat ke liye maafi mangni padhti hai, Anupamaa Devi ji?!", Mister Shah snapped sharply.
He gave Anuj a death glare and stormed off.
"It's okay Anu.", Anuj said softly, looking helpless.
I nodded, gulping.

It was painful.
Seperation.
I drew in a deep breath and turned to leave.
He was a good man, he deserved better. Someone who was baggage free like Shruti for sure.

I walked out of the office to find Mister Shah sitting on a bench by the road.
I slowly went and sat down beside him.

"Chillana zaroori tha?", I asked, not looking at him.
He drew in a cold breath.
"Tumhara gyaan ki Devi banna zaroori tha? Sumedh ne abhi tak theek se baat Tak nehi ki aur tumhare gyaan ke moti ready ho gaye.", He said coldly.
"Mister Shah—"
"Ex Mrs. Kapadia ji, rehem kariye hum baap bete par please. Aapko apne Anuj devta ki defend karna hai, unka mandir banwakar Puja karni hai, jo karna hai kariye. Lekin mere bete ko kuch bolne ki zaroorat nehi hai.", He said irritably.

"Woh mera bhi beta hai, Mister Shah!", I snapped at him.
He looked up at me.
"Aacha? Toh kya zaroorat thi Anuj ko sorry bolne ki? Sumedh ne tumhare liye kia!", He said.
I drew in a deep breath.
"Jo galat hai, woh galat hai Mister Shah.", I said sighing.
"Jaise ki tum."
"Mai galat hu? Toh aap maha galat hai!"
"Tum toh galtiyon ki Devi ho!"
"Aur aap toh bewakufi aur galat kaamon ke badshah!"

"Tum humesha mujhe hi insult karti ho!"
"Layak hai aap Mister Shah!"
"Ha ha.. sirf mere hi saamne tumhe yaad aata hai ki tum sahi ho.. warna baaki duniya ke aage toh tumhara 'mai galat hu' ka roona hi khatam nehi hota.", He snapped.

I paused awkwardly.
Wait, why did he have a point here?

He looked at me as I paused.
And immediately said,
"Arrey mhari maa ab mere saamne bhi roona mat shuru karna!", He joined his hands dramatically,
"Sahi ho tum. Devi ho tum. Tumhara mandir banega aur usme saare bhajan mai hi gaunga."
