Mei-rin carefully adjusted the angle of her phone, ensuring that the soft glow of the fairy lights behind her cast a flattering light on her features. With a quick check of her appearance in the screen, she tapped the "Go Live" button on Instagram. Tonight was Valentine's Day, and Mei had decided to share her evening with her followers, hoping to spread a little love and positivity.
As she greeted her viewers, the comments section started to fill up, a mix of heart emojis and compliments on her appearance. Mei couldn't help but smile at the influx of positivity, her heart swelling with gratitude for her online community.
"Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with warmth
"I hope you're all feeling loved and appreciated today, whether you're celebrating with a partner or enjoying some self-love because let me tell you, if you're single, your expenses are practically cut in half!"
The comments continued to pour in, some asking about her plans for the evening, while others expressed curiosity about her relationship status. Mei chuckled at the question, a playful glint in her eye as she replied,
"Ah yes, the million-dollar question! Why is Park Mei-rin still single? Well, let's just say I'm enjoying the single life for now. And because no one asked me out."
Just as she was settling into the flow of the livestream, a familiar voice chimed in from off-screen, causing Mei's face to light up with delight.
"Hey, everyone! Happy Valentine's Day!" It was Sunoo, his infectious energy immediately drawing cheers from the viewers.
The numbers increased, from 200,000 to 800,000.
"Sunoo!" Mei exclaimed, her smile widening as she turned the camera to include him in the frame.
"Everyone, We got Sunoo over today! my best friend! We've been watching netfliz for hours!"
Sunoo grinned, giving a playful salute to the camera. "You bet! We even watched both the mean girls movies!"
The comments section erupted with laughter and admiration for the dynamic duo, with many viewers expressing their envy at Mei and Sunoo's close friendship. Mei couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude for Sunoo, who had been by her side through thick and thin, always ready to lift her spirits with his infectious positivity. She saw a comment asking which movie was better.
"Ofcourse! The first one was better."
Mei replied."I liked the second one's vocals but like....it's not the best honestly."
Sunoo added.Just as Mei was about to respond to another comment, a new figure appeared on screen, causing her to do a double-take. It was Yeonjun, her cousin, but instead of his usual casual attire, he was in a formal shirt and pants with a tie decorating his neck.
"Yeonjun!" Mei exclaimed, her surprise evident in her voice. "What are you doing here?"
Yeonjun flashed a dazzling smile, his charisma practically oozing through the screen. "I couldn't resist joining in on the Valentine's Day fun! Plus, I wanted to see what my favorite cousin was up to."
"See that? I'm the favourite!"
Mei hit her chest twice as she bragged to Sunoo, who could only smule sweetly at her.Despite the playful banter, Mei couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness at Yeonjun's mention of family. Ever since the two moved out of their old joint house, Mei and Yeonjun had grown even closer, leaning on each other for support during the toughest of times.
Before she could dwell on her thoughts for too long, Sunoo's phone rang, interrupting the conversation with its shrill ringtone. With a sheepish grin, Sunoo held up a finger, mouthing "Sorry, I have to take this." before hurriedly excusing himself from the livestream.
"Hi guys!......Bye guys!"
Yeonjun waved to the camera before patting Mei's shoulder and walking away.Left alone again, Mei pursed her lips as she read the comments.
"Why do I have no female friends? I do! They're in my basketball team, They're Ryujin, Yuna, Chaeryoung, Yeji and Lia! I haven't really become close friends woth them yet but they're amazing, you guys should follow them. I also talk to Huening kai oppa's sister, Bahiyyih sometimes."
Ofcourse she wasn't going to tell them the fact that her old friends ditched her for Yeonjun, that would be embarrassing.
But just as quickly as the feeling had come, it was replaced by a surge of warmth as her neighbor Jaehyun and his friends Riwoo, Sungho, Woonhak, Taesan, and Leehan joined the livestream, their faces illuminated by the soft glow of their phones.
"Hey, Mei! Happy Valentine's Day!" Jaehyun exclaimed, his grin infectious as always.
"We saw that you were livestreaming, and we wanted to join."
Woonhak said after he said hi to a few people on the live who recognized them from Mei's posts.Mei saw the view count, 1.76M.
"Jaehyun! One million viewers!"
Mei yelled as she slapped the boy's shoulder."Damn!"
Despite the initial curiosity from her followers about her relationship status and lack of female friends present, Mei realized that what truly mattered was the bond she shared with the people who joined her on her Instagram live, making her Valentine's Day one to remember.
As the evening wore on, Mei and her friends laughed and joked, sharing stories and memories that would stay with them long after the livestream ended. And as Mei said her final goodbyes to her viewers, her heart was full to bursting with love and gratitude for the people who had made her Valentine's Day unforgettable.
