Serenade || Myung Jaehyun

Jaehyun's birthday.

"MYUNG JAEHYUN!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!"
Jaehyun's five friends, who had crawled in through the window yelled at exactly twelve am, causing the boy to jerk up from his sleep.
Taesan reached towards the light switch and flicked it on.

"Huh?"

"Happy birthday son!"
A middle aged woman spoke, coming from behind Sungho.

"Mom? Am I hallucinating!?"
Jaehyun asked before rubbing his eyes like a cartoon.

"No you're not."
His dad spoke, opening the door and entering.

Thump! Thump!

Jaehyun looked towards the sound produced on the window and ran towards it, opening it immediately and seeing a familiar girl standing in the lit room opposite to him.

"Happy birthday Jaehyun!"
Mei half yelled, clapping her hands.

"Thanks noona!"
Jaehyun yelled back causing Mei's eyes to go wide.

"YAH! MYUNG JAEHYUN I SWEAR TO GOD!"
The girl yelled before shutting the window and walking away from the window.

A few minutes passed and everyone heard footsteps coming towards the door.

And the door opened to reveal a nineteen year old girl standing there in pajamas.

"You didn't lock the door!?"
Jaehyun yelled, looking over at his friends.

"Err...."

Mei speed walked towards the boy and started hitting his shoulder repeatedly, like the female leads who hit the male lead when they do something dumb.

"The amount of times I've told you to stop calling me that! You brat!"
Mei yelled, giving the wincing-laughing-partially squatting boy one last blow on the back.

"Ah noona~ whyyyy?"
Jaehyun teased, completely forgetting his fuve friends and two parents in the room.

"Mrs.Myung!"
Mei whined, stomping her feet.
Surprised by her sudden display of cuteness, Jaehyun's friends looked at each other.

"Alright alright fine! Don't pull my mom into this."
Jaehyun huffed before walking towards Woonhak and slinging his arm on his shoulder.

"I'm gonna go sleep."
Mei said before walking out of the room and to her house.

"We'll just bunk here 'cause it is the middle of the night."
Leehan said before sitting on the floor.

"Let's play truth or dare!"

"Ahem, where were you Mei?"
Yeonjun asked, standing in the foyer Mei had just walked onto.

"Uhh next door? It's Jaehyun's birthday and he wouldn't stop calling me noona so I went there to snitch on him to his mom."
Mei informed the older boy, giving him a smile.

"Ohhh okay, good night."

As expected, school went smoothly after receiving a few wishes from teachers and a few bouqets from girls.

However, Jaehyun was left alone to walk home. Already knowing what was going to happen, the boy couldn't help but grin. And adding more to the joy, Mei was going to be there too.

The living room was adorned with colorful decorations, streamers hanging from wall to wall, and a "Happy Birthday Jaehyun" banner proudly displayed, Thanks to Yeonjun hyung and Jaehyun's parents. The air was filled with excitement as his friends put the finishing touches on the setup.
