"Miss Havier." I immediately looked up and saw Ms. Ferrer standing in front of me. I could feel my soul sleeping kaya naman ay inayos ko ang bangs ko at inayos ang upo.
"We only have five minutes left. Tell me something about the American Period." Dang, this subject was like studying our country's history which we repeatedly from elementary to junior high.
"We had the American Colonial Government back then," I paused and tried to recall what I have researched when we had a report in AP class back before. "It consists of the Taft Commission, Civil Government, Philippine Bill of 1902, Philippine Assembly, Resident Commissioners, The Filipinization of Government, The Jones Law of 1916, The Wood Forbes mission and.." What the fuck was the last one again?
"The Osrox mission." I ended with confidence.
She gave me a nod and signaled me to sit down, "That certain topic was supposed to be discussed in our next meeting but I'm satisfied that you have studies this beforehand. Class dismissed, I'll see everyone next Wednesday." Then the 2 hours lecture finally ended.
Kahit na inaantok kanina ay nagnonotes pa rin ako. Though, nothing really came to my head due to my sleepiness, I wasn't that pressured. I advance study during our Independent Studying Periods so I could keep up.
It has been weeks since class started and the subjects were surprisingly easy. The curriculum was hard to adjust to at first but once you get used to it, you'll be fine with a proper time management. This program was declared to prepare the students for College so it was no surprise that things weren't easy in SHS.
"Antok na antok ah," sabi ni Ponce.
"Sira body clock ko, nitong pasukan pa talaga nasira, ugh." Umiling ako.
"Ano next sub, guys?" Elyza, one of my classmates, asked. "Perdev?" she asked.
"DISS," I answered.
"Nako, magpapa-performance task nanaman n'yan si Sir." Not even a month, nakapag-tatlong presentation na kami kay sir. Worse, hindi siya nagsasabi beforehand.
He'll walk inside this room, do a quick lecture then announce na we'll be presenting this and that and give us 20-30 minutes time to prepare with our groups and then presentation na agad. Kung hindi naman ganoon ay gisahan lagi sa recitations niya kasi he'll ask for a deeper explanation or a situational example to a certain word tapos hahanapan niya ng butas 'yung sagot namin.
"02! May last minute announcement si sir!" Hade, our class PIO announced which was barely heard by everyone because the room was too noisy.
"Gago! Balik mo 'yan, hoy!"
"Pahipak lang eh!"
"Tarantado, balak mo lang yan i-submit sa disciplinary office eh," Ren and Farah were running around the room.
"Nagdadala ng vape sa school amputa!" sabat ni Dean. "May video ako nung humihipak ka sa garden, Dean!"
"Joke nga lang eh. Tado ka Ren, balik mo 'yan kay Farah." Sumasakit ulo ko sa ingay, goodness! Sumasabay pa 'yung lamig ng dalawang aircon sa room.
"Sharon, may naghihintay sa 'yong tangkay sa labas ng room! Grabe, wala pang one month klase may tagapag-hintay na agad sa labas ng room."
"Sasha, pahingi yellow pad bilis! 15 minutes lang binigay sa akin na time ni Ms. na mag-extend sa pasahan nito!"
"Wait lang! Nawawala nga eh! Next time papabayarin ko talaga kayo lima kada isang papel!"
"Tangina, ang ingay!" Bree exclaimed while laughing.
"Cess, Ikaw nga," Hade told me while massaging his temples. Ponce laughed at me when he saw that I narrowed my eyes.
"Announcement! Pakinggan niyo si Hudas!" Sigaw ko kaya nakuha ko ang atensyon nila. "Basura niyo ah, 'wag iiwan mamayang uwian," I reminded Marga who was eating a bag of chips, she gave me a thumbs up. Wala kasing basurahan sa room.
