Two days passed, leaving me hopeless in the lack of evidence. I kept on following Jiang Fei around the sect and outside of it in the night time, when the curse might have been active.
I had Jiang Ming tell me about the new apparent fights that Jiang Fei had with the Sect Leader regarding the future of the sect which, even though they were seemingly harmless, I knew that they might as well have have escalated.
I still didn't know what the enemy's plan was, so I was simply going to be a spy and make sure that the curse wasn't winning, ready to hop in when I would have been needed-needed to protect my father and the Ye Xing Sect leader, perhaps.
I just wanted to see it for myself so I could tell the type of curse I was dealing with.
Days ago I had nothing to think about, and look where I was now. Working on something.
The moonlight was strong and pure on my path as I walked the road of a forest. It was safe- the sect always ensured that the towns people were protected from the evil spirits, but I didn't know weather going into the forest with Jiang Fei was so secure anymore.I creeped in closely, ready to intervene if the situation called for it.
He didn't sense me yet, thankfully. He didn't hear my heart beating with adrenaline or feel my eyes watch his every move.
While trying to make out his face I saw two figures moving from the shadows, straight to him. Thinking that they were alone, they lighted a torch with a talisman, allowing me to see Jia Hao and Yi Ming once again. The light added extra shadows upon their faces, making them seem even more like the people that they were. They were adding an aura to their characters.
It meant nothing, but I had to be extremely careful.
I didn't dare move yet as I hoped to catch their conversation from behind the shadow of a tree."So, do you like what you see?" Said Jia Hao proudly in a whisper.
"Certainly, I do," said the other man, Yi Ming, "I really like it."
Jiang Fei's eyes were dull, devoid of emotion, as he looked at at Jia Hao. He didn't have much of a facial expression, so that's when it clicked.
"Won't they see that depressing face of his?" Said Yi Ming, arranging his black hair. He would have been a charmer if not for his sheep like personality. Jia Hao might as well have been using him.
"No, they won't. He can act whenever, do whatever."
"Yes, but isn't this too good to be true? Don't they say that there's always a price?"
"The price will be us living the lives of kings and leaders. I took care of everything, even the sacrifice has been taken care of," he explained with a sigh, gesticulating.
"Thank the Gods for that tea of yours. I hope you're not doing the same to me," laughed Yi Ming.
Jia Hao rolled his eyes, moving the torch to inspect Jiang Fei. Seeing him looking like that pushed a button inside of me. I just couldn't accept them doing whatever they felt like doing. Killing whoever they felt like killing.
"Shen Xiao knows," said Jia Hao out of nowhere, his dark hair moving with the wind as if it were a shadow itself.
"He does?" even with his back turned I could see his worried eyes inside my mind.
"Yes. I heard Leader Jiang Lao talking about it. He certainly doesn't believe a word of what his son said."
"He told the Leader as well?" he panicked, "Will they do anything to us?"
"He thinks the man's gone crazy. He trusts me as much as one could."
"But... what if Shen Xiao will try to ruin our plan? They used to call him a prodigy in curses."
It was actually the master of curses, and it was a useless joke in between me and my friends when we were kids.
The title certainly aged well, that much was clear.
