The morning sun cast a soft glow through the curtains of Anirudh's cabin, creating patterns of light on the desk cluttered with academic papers. Anirudh, seated in his chair, gazed at the clock with an expectant look. Bondita's daily visits had become a cherished routine, a bright interlude in his daily academic responsibilities.
As the minutes ticked by, Anirudh's anticipation morphed into subtle worry. Bondita, usually punctual, was notably absent. He shuffled through the papers on his desk, attempting to focus on work, but his thoughts kept returning to the missing presence of the spirited girl.
The door creaked open, momentarily lifting Anirudh's spirits, but instead of Bondita's cheerful face, another girl entered. Anirudh's brows furrowed, a mix of confusion and concern etched on his face.
"Good morning, Sir," the girl greeted politely, holding a stack of books. "Sir aaj Bondita nahi aayi hai so i got these books."
Anirudh, taken aback, replied, "Good morning. Thank you for bringing these. But why is Bondita absent today? Is everything alright?"
The girl hesitated before responding, "I don't know sir bondita no bataya nahi... bas aaj woh absent hai."
Anirudh's worry deepened. "Ohh okay!."
The girl nodded and left, leaving Anirudh with a lingering sense of unease. As the door closed, he leaned back in his chair, a cascade of thoughts flooding his mind.
"Bondita Aaj absent kyu hai? kuch hua hai kya..."
Anirudh couldn't shake the feeling of uncertainty. He grappled with questions, his mind racing to find answers.
"Woh aise kabhi college miss nahi karthi... karthi bhi hai tho pahle mujh batathi.. kya hua hai.. Mujh kuch bataya bhi nahi..."
The weight of confusion settled on Anirudh's shoulders as he stared at the empty chair across from him. Unaware of the storm brewing in Bondita's heart and the decisions she had made, he pondered the sudden shift in their dynamic, sensing that something significant had changed between them.
Feeling an urgency to connect with her, Anirudh reached for his phone. However, his eyes fell on a series of missed calls from Bondita the previous night. A sense of realization dawned upon him, a growing unease settling in his chest.
"Itne sare calls.. She tried to reach me last night.. Shittt kal Raat phone Maa ki pas tha.. maine dehka ni nahi.. kya hua hoga!"
His fingers hovered over the phone as he debated whether to call her. Finally, with a mix of anxiety and hope, he pressed the call button. The phone rang, each tone echoing in the silent room. No answer. Anirudh tried again, desperation seeping into his voice.
