ANIRUDH
My heart raced as I sat through the meeting with my clients. It had been going on for hours without any sign of ending. A strange feeling gripped me, like something very important was at stake, but I couldn't figure out what was happening. Confusion clouded my mind, making it difficult to focus on the business at hand.
Finally, the meeting concluded with a sigh of relief. The deal was done, but dealing with those stubborn clients had been incredibly difficult.
I took out my phone to check messages and noticed unread messages from Bondita. She had been online two hours ago, which struck me as odd. I felt a pain in my chest. What could have happened to Bondita? Why was I so worried?
Leaving the office building, I headed towards my car. As I sat down, something caught my eye—a shining object on the seat. I picked it up and recognized it immediately as Bondita's earring. A smile lit up my face. She had been upset with me lately, claiming she didn't love me, yet here was the earring I had given her on her 21st birthday, a year ago when we were just friends. I held the earring in my hand, lost in memories.

Suddenly, Bondita entered my office. I leaned against my desk, staring at her with a mix of anger and confusion. She blinked, clearly taken aback, and nervously asked, "Why are you staring at me like this, Anii? I mean, sir..."
I remained silent, letting my anger simmer before finally speaking, "You didn't tell me it was your birthday."
Her face showed worry as she replied, "Um... how could I? I can't just come and announce it's my birthday!"
I took a few steps towards her, frustration evident in my voice, "Why not? Because I'm just your professor?"
Confusion filled her eyes as she hesitated before responding softly, "Just my professor?" She took a step closer, her gaze piercing, "Then why do you mean so much to me? Why is it that when you're around, I don't need anyone else? You're the one who banishes all my fears, who stands by me even when you don't have to. You're the one I can trust with all my heart. Main aap main raab dehka hai."
Her words touched my heart, softening my expression. Emotion welled up within me as I managed a smile, "You've said so much, yet you haven't told me what this relationship means to you." Deep down, I knew she loved me, but I needed to hear it from her.
She smiled back, her eyes reflecting her love and determination, "Does every relationship need a name, Sir?" She was right; ours was unlike any other.
I nodded, overwhelmed with love for her, "You're right. But today is your day. Happy birthday, Bondita!"
I took out a gold earring from my pocket, handing it to her, "I didn't know it was your birthday, so... this is a small gift from me."
She accepted it happily, saying, "This means a lot to me because you gave it to me. Yeh mera sath hamsha rahegyi."
-
The memory of that day played in my mind as I smiled down at the earring now in my hand. Perhaps it had fallen the morning when she was in my lap. With a sigh, I carefully placed the earring in my shirt pocket and started the car, thoughts of Bondita warming my heart.
As I entered the house, my eyes widened in horror. Blood drops were scattered all over the floor. Panic surged through me as I rushed inside, following the sound of Maa's crying. My heart nearly stopped when I saw Baba lying there, gravely injured, with the doctor treating him. As the doctor left, I walked towards them. My relationship with Baba had never been good, but seeing him like this hurt deeply.
