Katie and Sarah laughed as they walked along the beach. They had decided to take a day to hangout with each other and catch up, sort of, get back into the groove of being friends.

They hadn't had a genuine conversation in so long and everyone else was busy, so they figured it was a good use of their free time.

"Are you still obsessed with Taylor Swift?" Sarah asked.

Sarah had vivid flashbacks of when they would stay up late, blast Taylor Swift, and dance until their legs gave out. Those were good times, and both girls missed those moments.

"Yes!" Katie exclaimed, "Favorite album is still Red. I don't think I will ever get over those songs. I am, however, getting more into reputation. I am currently obsessed with End Game."

Sarah laughed. Katie could talk about Taylor Swift for hours, and Sarah used to let her. It was their favorite pastime conversation. Anytime they were bored they would just talk about Taylor Swift.

"You wanna, uh, grab some lunch?" Katie asked, pointing to The Wreck, which was only a few feet in front of them.

"Yeah, sure!" Sarah exclaimed.

The girls walked up the beach and towards the small restaurant. They walked through the doors and were greeted by Kie and her father.

"Hey!" Kie exclaimed when she noticed them, "Hungry?" She asked.

The girls nodded in response. The each took a seat at the bar, glancing at Mr. Carrera.

"How's your day been?" Sarah asked Kie, who shrugged.

"It was busy a little while ago, but it's been slow since noon," Kie informed the girls.

There was a slight pause before Mr. Carrera jumped into the conversation.

"What are you girls hungry for?" He asked, pulling out his notepad.

"I'll take some mac and cheese," Katie said, smiling.

"Still on that pasta kick, huh?" Mr. Carrera asked, Katie nodded, "You know, I learned how to make 6 different types of pasta just for you."

Katie fake gasped, putting her hand over mouth.

"I feel so special!" She joked, Mr. Carrera laughed.

"Ah, it's no biggy," Mr. Carrera said, he turned to Sarah, "What about you? What are you eating?"

"Uh, I'll take some mac and cheese too," Sarah said, "Rose used to make the best mac and cheese. She, uh, she would put extra cheese in it. It was the best. She always made it when I was sad."

Katie set her hand on Sarah's shoulder. This was the first time Sarah had talked about her family in months.

"It feels like a machine and cheese kind of day," Kie said, giving Sarah some emotional support.

"Yeah," Sarah said quietly, nodding her head.

"I'll get that started," Mr. Carrera said before disappearing into the kitchen.

Kie set two cups of lemonade in front of Katie and Sarah. There was a moment of silence between the three friends—a moment of peace in their friendship. Everything else felt like it was falling apart, the world sometimes felt like it was ending, but as long as they were friends everything was fine. Everything was okay.

"So, where were we?" Sarah asked, breaking the silence.

Katie and Kie smiled and continued in conversation with Sarah, keeping her mind away from anything negative, and keeping her focused on the positive.
