PAST | Lauren
Moving to another school was a new and scary thing. When you were ten, it was frightening.
But I was bloody nearly sixteen.
I was a fairly confident person, but I think doing this would rattle anyone. Especially when you know absolutely zero people.
Finding my classroom, I awkwardly found an empty seat. At least the teacher made me feel welcome, and horribly introduced me to the class.
A girl sat beside me, and she was decently nice I guess. I could tell she was only sitting here because it was the last seat available.
By the time a break came around, I ate by myself, gawking around at everyone and wondering if I should try and make conversation, or get to know people.
I spotted a group of girls, who looked nice, they looked like girls I'd fit in with.
After another awful class, and then lunch. I was about to go over and talk to this group of girls, when someone sat beside me, catching my attention.
"Hey, Lauren was it?" A girl with blonde hair asked me, smiling softly.
Shocked at first, I nodded. "Yeah, Lauren."
"I'm Demi. I was gonna come over before, but I was a bit distracted when study." She told me.
Oh. "Should I be studying?"
Demi laughed at it made me smile. "Honestly, no, that was a lie. I was just sort of nervous." She admitted.
She made me chuckle. "Are you- you're in my grade? I haven't seen you in my classes."
Demi replied. "Year ten." I nodded because so was I. "What's your next class? Do you know where it is?"
I cleared my throat. "I don't know actually, it's art with mr-"
"Mr Williams?" Demi asked.
"Yeah." I replied.
"Me too. You can come with me." She looked across the yard. "I have a couple friends over there, if you wanna come over you can?"
I started gathering my stuff and followed her over, where she introduced me to her kind friends. A couple guys, and girls.
"This is my girlfriend, Ivy." Demi introduced me to a brown haired girl, nose piercing and what was obviously marker scribbled on her arm.
After chatting briefly, I followed Demi through the school, eventually coming to an art room. The smell of paints honestly gave me a headache.
"My friends aren't into art, so I am here by myself a lot. There's no one in this class I really like talking to." Demi told me as we found a quiet spot in the corner to sit.
After a quick horrible introduction to the class, we got on with work and Demi asked me. "From Melbourne? Why did you move?"
"My father was just offered a job over here, that's pretty much all there is to it." I told her as she flipped open her art book, I lent in. "Demi, these are incredible." I admired her drawings, studying the perfect lines and even perfect blends.
"Thanks." She said highly and her cheeks flushed a little. "I try." She turned the page and my eyes brightened when is we this image of a tree, roots and branches coming off of it.
"That's my favourite." I tell her, and she smiles "They are really great." I complimented again looking at her. She flipped another page, showing me an image of the school from- "where is that from?"
