raena's eyes burst open when her body rolled on the living room floor. in a panic, she scrambled awake and looked up to see the man behind her ungraceful demise had a face almost identical to hers.
is this my long lost doppelgänger?
"right, so you give me crap because i like to drink or don't have a job or whatever but you're spending the night with some random guy?" jeongguk scoffed in amusement, towering over raena even while she stood, blinking her eyes to recognize the figure before her. "didn't think this was like you, sister."
oh. it's my brother.
she furrowed her brows and was quick to defend. "jj, this is my friend not some random guy. we didn't meant to fall asleep. can we please not talk like that in front of him." she attempts to ask nicely. she rubs her arms from the fall. "why'd you have to push me, geez."
"who is that?" jeongguk asks impatiently but with a swagger to his body that told raena the answer wouldn't really matter.
yoongi slowly stirred.
raena came quickly to respond, "i was going to introduce you guys especially after you lost your job because i had an idea but—"
yoongi's eyes widened and his body stiffened in his position on the couch. he was leaning towards the arm rest on the left, his face not visible from the new voice he heard alongside raena's.
shoot. it's her brother. it's jeongguk.
"you're not telling people my business are you? raena? " jeongguk asks in disbelief.
"what? no! that's not what i mean—just go to your room, let me just see him out, okay? I'll explain in just a second just don't—"
yoongi slowly gets up and gathers his things quickly from the floor, earning the eyes of an annoyed jeongguk. yoongi could see the reflection in the now darkened tv screen. he wasn't sure if it was smudge on the screen but he noticed the bags under the guy's eyes. yoongi tried to ignore the pit in his stomach.
"i'll just go, raena," yoongi says quietly and makes his way to the door hiding his face as best as possible in a way that was casual.
raena's heart sank and hands reached towards him instinctively, unsure why he hid his face. "no i'm sorry, i didn't mean—"
"—i'll see you," he rushes and hurries out the door before jeongguk could take any steps.
yoongi shut the door behind him and let out the breathe of air he was holding.
"oh my gosh." he whispered.
his mind harbored guilt and concern. he never meant to cause raena any inconvenience and he especially hated being the center of an inconvenience. the events of the last five seconds replayed in his head, imagining if jeongguk had seen him. would he even recognize him? after only ever exchanging perhaps two words in the past?
he groans against the door, annoyed. i should have looked at her. so she doesn't feel weird. or guilty.
"sh*t," he sighs and pushes himself off the door and begins walking down the street, not concerned with the direction his feet was taking him.
yoongi grabs at his hair and looks through his things for his phone. he needed to call taehyung.
when his hands never met the cool steel of his phone case, his heart dropped.
"crap. i left my phone."
—
"completely uncalled for jeongguk!" raena yelled pouting her lips in frustration. "ugh!"
