"next paycheck, yoongi," raena smiles sheepishly at her friend who was too busy going over taehyung's song lyrics than to see that she was pointing her index fingers towards each other animatedly. he finally looks up to reassure her again then deadpans at the sight.
"very anime of you, raena," yoongi rolls his eyes then returns them to the sheet.
"i get that a lot, actually," she simply shrugs and plops herself next to him on taehyung's bed. the crew quickly moved upstairs after reality tv was getting to be too much for them. yoongi, curious to see what taehyung was working on, pressed him to see his lyrics for a new song.
yoongi shifted in his spot a little as raena leaned over to read the lyrics with him.
"they aren't bad, right?" taehyung laughs nervously. after some silence and a small chuckle from raena, his face falls. "guys~."
yoongi puts the paper down and addresses his friend. "it's not bad. i think there's a couple words we can substitute for something...stronger. but you're getting better, man."
taehyung grinned. "that's what i'm talking about!" his smile quickly frowned. "then raena why'd you laugh?"
raena stifled her laugh as she tried to explain. yoongi turns his head to look at her, eyes watching how her lips quivered in its attempt to hold in her childish antics.
"your handwriting," she blurts out finally. "it just makes me laugh for some reason." suddenly a pencil flys past her head and hits the headboard of taehyung's bed. "tae tae! i'm sorry! see! it had nothing to do with your lyrics!" she laughs.
yoongi can't help but chuckle when he realizes he knows exactly what she's talking about. taehyung's hand writing had characters going in entirely different directions. some leaned on each other like friends, others pushed and shoved each other out of the way. there was a sense of comedy to it that just made raena giggle and yoongi shake his head in disbelief.
raena grabs yoongi's arm and leans his body forward with her head hiding behind him, attempting to escape taehyung's throwing spree.
"ah!" she yelps as an eraser nearly pokes yoongi in the eye.
taehyung barks out a laugh that makes raena giggle even more. "it's just so cute!" she teases to which he gasps.
"oh okay i see how it is. i'll be right back," taehyung jumps up from his computer chair and dashes out of the room leaving raena practically spooning yoongi's body. he had stood still and dealt with the fact that she was using him as a shield and there was no escaping.
"dude what do you think he's gonna do?" raena harshly whispers to yoongi, trying to hold in her laugh.
the sound made the corner of his lips quirk. it was getting hard to pretend like the combination of crackheads taehyung and raena wasn't as entertaining as he thought it would be. did they drive him crazy? sure. but something about their child likeness made him miss the days where he was the same. growing up too fast makes one a little cold. or at least for yoongi he did. instead of feeling annoyed, he was feeling refreshed. plus wondering what taehyung was going to do next kind of excited him.
yoongi leans closer to raena like they're two kids sharing a secret but before he could say anything, droplets of water sprinkled his face. raena yelped in his ear as yoongi hurried to get taehyung's blanket over their bodies.
raena laughed in glee as taehyung's spray bottle sputtered and failed on him, giving her and yoongi five seconds to breathe. raena is gasping for air when her eyes meet yoongi's. she was surprised in part at how heroic the blanket covering looked from her point of view. like a kdrama scene that would go on to repeat in multiple angles. the thought itself made her heart race and she found herself smiling at him. for the first time, he was grinning just as hard and it was then that raena saw them.
hiding underneath his usual brooding lips and above his perfect teeth were his gums that appeared just as his nose scrunched in unison with his smile. it was so...cute.
then raena realized their bodies were touching still. she didn't know whether to remain there or pull away. he wasn't in any hurry either when he realized her eyes were clearly not looking at his nose, or his chin but that space in between. that place where words come out.
suddenly a weight bounces on the both of them, and taehyung's arms are clutching their bodies with affection instead of revenge.
"i love you guys," he hums and squeezes tighter.
"yo, you're suffocating me," yoongi immediately grumbles, a smile still on his lips.
"can't breathe!" raena yelps.
"ow!" yoongi winces. "too loud."
she chuckles as taehyung removes his body and his blanket from them. "my bad."
"you're good," he shakes his head amused. the two sit up in taehyung's bed.
raena catches a glimpse of herself in the mitro while avoiding eye contact with the guy next to her. she frowns. "dang it. my hair!"
taehyung laughed. "girl, your hair was already messed up to begin with when you got here don't blame it on us."
she gasped and with that the fight continued into a cat and mouse chase in the living room until taehyung's aunt and uncle arrived home, kicking taehyung's friends out for much needed rest.
raena and yoongi said their goodbyes to their musical friend and stood outside his doorstep quietly taking in the afternoon weather.
"hey," raena started.
yoongi looks up. "hm?"
"want to go do something together if you aren't already tired of me?"
suddenly yoongi's phone rings and he looks at the caller ID with a clenched jaw.
raena quickly shakes her head and begins walking backwards. actually never mind you're probably busy. i'll see you another time okay?"
yoongi attempts to stop her but he did need to go and attend his inconvenience. "yeah, sure. uh bye, raena."
they send each other one last smile before raena turns around and skips to the bus.
