Thank you so much for reading my first ever Team Chaotix fanfic! I hope you had a enjoyable time reading it to the very end, it's been fun and amazing writing this story and finally getting it published for all to read!
I also wanna greatly thank those who have been keeping up with my story and being patient of me releasing chapters. My original plan was to have the story fully done before November, but that hadn't happened. What happened in September I had a writer's block and couldn't get to writing until I had the motivation to continue. During that, I had to focus on my job and family. My job as I type this is short staffed and I have been doing a lot of overtime, which kept me from working on even just one sentence, and there was a lot with my family that I wanted to put first in. Eventually, as the weather is getting colder I've been getting less busy and have gotten over the writer's block. I hope I can continue my writing schedule.
I had written fanfics before, but not at a knowledgeable and serious direction. I learned important tips and advice in writing over the years that I didn't put into my writing before that's now helping me improve, such as: it's ok to take your time, expand my vocabulary, know your audience, take risks, don't be afraid of criticism, and most importantly, write for yourself!
And that's what I did! I love the Sonic franchise, I really like Team Chaotix, and I'm a huge dog person. So, why not combined all that into one story? Out of all the Team Chaotix fanfics I've come across, this one is the most unique because of one thing: It includes dogs!!!
Here's a quick backstory for "Team Chaotix: The Case of the Missing Dogs": I remember talking to a great friend of mine as we brainstorm ideas for our fanfic stories. I planned on writing a Team Chaotix fanfic which lead me for years to procrastinate on. A Team Chaotix fanfic sounded like a great idea, and I wanna thank my friend for encouraging the idea of writing such a story, however I wasn't sure how to write one. I felt I just needed that moment one day to actually come up with something good that can be writeable for me. Fast forward to about four-five years later, I spend late winter to early spring of this year re-thinking my plans on writing a story and finally came with a plot that seemed workable.
Here is some fun facts that I want to share while making this story:
1. The 33 dogs represent how old the Sonic franchise is currently!
2. Holly and Kate are named in memory after my pets that has since passed away. Holly was a guinea pig and Kate was a red eared slider.
3. I wanted to have the story with old and newer elements in the Sonic franchise that fans like me would easily recognize like Station Square, Prison Island, Rough and Tumble, etc.
4. "Team Chaotix - The Case of The Missing Dogs" has been one of my longest brainstorming story ideas.
5. In Chapter 11, the words that Rough and Tumble say: "Their cells won't hold us for long! We'll be out, and then we're coming for you!" "You've made life long enemies of... Rough and Tumble!" Is a direct reference to Issue 3 of the IDW Sonic comic. You may have caught this when reading that part if you read the comic!
Now I know you may have a few questions: "Dogs are Mobians. Why dogs? Are they pets?" I even got that question asked to me back in March. And while I do know in the Sonic world, dogs are Mobians like cats, hedgehogs, and bears, I really was debating on if I should make them as pets, or create an entire new Team Chaotix plot to make it make sense. However, I remembered that for AUs, especially in fanfics, it gives a writer the freedom to write however and whatever they want, and allows those different AUs have their own unique plots, ideas and concepts that we may not see in an original movie, show, comic, or video game that an average fanfic is based off of. I also followed the advice of to write for my self, and realized that every fanfic no matter the fanbase is written differently and doesn't have to follow a certain guideline. In conclusion, I consider my fanfic to be an Sonic AU were dogs are pets and not Mobians, and this has helped me stay motivated and passionate in what I'm writing. I hope this answers any confusion that came up!
"Team Chaotix: The Case of The Missing Dogs" is just the beginning in what I'm going to write and what I'm capable of! I want to write more fanfics and even my own stories on my own. Deep down, I love to write, and I'm grateful for Wattpad to exist so I can continue what I really do like and to be much better at then what I am now.
As a matter of fact, it's a perfect time now to announce that I want to share with you: My next fanfic is a re-written of one I had written years before, but private it recently because I realized there's so much mistakes, errors, was incohesive, had many plot holes, really showed I was inexperienced, was afraid to take risks and used too much of the Hunger Games formula as a crutch that I couldn't come up with my own unique ideas, concepts, and plotline. Not only that, I realized that story I worked on years ago is very outdated because I written it when I was 17 years old, so that's like 6 going on 7 years ago, and ALOT has changed within the Sonic franchise. With that said, I'm excited to announce that I'm re-writing my actual first Sonic fanfic: "Amy Rose at The Hunger Games"!
I'm also a fan of The Hunger Games franchise and was inspired to make a Hunger Games like story in the perspective of Amy Rose, one of my favorite characters in the Sonic franchise. At the time, there was hardly any characters that would be in the story that wasn't around such as Whisper, Jewel, and Dr. Starline, so I had to use 6 Districts instead of 12. Also, I wasn't familiar with the Archie Sonic comics that much, which I didn't know back then that there could've been good characters that I can use my fanfic, but never knew existed. I feel now is the time to revamp it since I gotten more involved with the franchise and start again from scratch such as adding more characters, fix all the flaws/plot holes from the original story, improve/add scenes that can become structured/cohesive, and add MORE Sonic elements to it that Sonic fans like me would recognized and enjoy pointing out. I'm also changing the title to the fanfic. Instead of it being called "Amy Rose At The Hunger Games", and with careful thinking, I decided on titling it; "A Rose With Thorns".
The release date for a prologue and Chapter 1 as samples will be January 4, 2025, future chapters will be released sometime March to April of 2025.
So stay tuned if interested! I'm excited to re-work on my actually very first fanfic, especially with the recent announcement of the newest Hunger Games title; "Sunrise on the Reaping" for March 2025! While it's being worked on, I'm planning on publishing smaller original stories that I've have planned for months as well, and from time to time, publish more artwork in my artbook, and try to put in more effort in poetry. You can find these all on my profile!
Once again, thanks so much for reading my Team Chaotix fanfic and also for reading these notes, I appreciate you for taking the time and see what I have to say and plan! :D
