Tuesday, 4:55 PM: 41 hours left to pay the electric bill;
They arrived without a minute to lose. G.U.N's headquarters were nestled on a north mountain, beyond the boarders of Station Square. It would be extremely difficult for the commonfolk to gain access or even step foot on the base for how heavily guarded and incredibility massive it is. Every corner and section were guards on lookout, with ten more in groups of two circling regularly on patrol round about the seven football field long base. Surrounding the perimeter is a thick twelve foot electrical fence with a layer of razor barbed wires on top. Within a few miles in view of G.U.N. is not just any tropical island, but Prison Island, another heavily guarded, threatening location that's efficiently recognizable from the few untouched islands surrounding it. It too had a similar layout as G.U.N.'s headquarters, except it was two football fields shorter. Because Team Chaotix has an alliance with the organization, they were allowed to visit anytime they needed and were each given a special pamphlet with their photo IDs, fingerprints, and an access code.
Not a surprised to Vector, a few guards recognized them the second they drove to the front gate, he and Espio had talked once before that the guards might be big fans of them.
"It feels like we're growing into big celebrities there." Vector said. "It would be amazing if one day, we solve a case of theirs and get reward with a big fat stack of cash! Just think of all the food we can eat!" The possibility of getting rich started to go over his head, not realizing the chances of that ever happening was low.
"What brings Team Chaotix all the way here?" Asked an eager guard, unknowingly interrupting Vector's trailing thoughts into an almost poverty and not enough food to eat reality.
"We.. we're working on a case and need to check your database for any suspects." Vector asked, trying to recollect his mind on the main objective. "Is Shadow, Rouge, and or Omega around?"
"Miss Rouge and Omega are away on undisclosed missions. However, Shadow is here. You want me to reach out to him?"
"Yes, of course please." Said Espio.
The guard spoke to Shadow using a telecommunicator and gave approval for Team Chaotix to continue ahead.
Later, as they walked to the main entrance, Vector tapped Charmy on his shoulder, gaining his attention. "Now remember Charmy, we're on the most important military base in the entire world. Last time we were here, you nearly broke their scanner by repeatedly flying in circles, triggering the sensor. Don't do that again."
"Well, if you all had me with that so-called important grown up meeting, I wouldn't've gotten bored!" Retorted Charmy.
"I told you it was you're responsibility to stay put and not do anything crazy! Luckily the guards here thought nothing of it, otherwise they woul-"
"The constant beeping was funny and I wasn't gonna play with it for too long!" Interrupted Charmy, defending his reason.
"Boys! Would you cut it out?!" Espio commanded. "We aren't back at home were is more formal to argue."
Espio then nudged Vector to let him know he wanted him to walk at his pace, which allowed Charmy to unknowingly fly ahead of them.
"You remember too, he's a kid, at his age it's tough to be patient at times, and what he did was not the biggest error he'd ever did yet." Espio whispered.
Those words reset Vector's mental thinking of Charmy, who would easily get under his skin, but Espio is right. Charmy is only six, and it can be easy for Vector to forget the very things that he can do, Charmy would struggle with despite being very brave and a good fighter for his age. He still needs the proper guidance of him and Espio that he currently needs right now so hopefully, he can be the bee that Espio and Vector knew he can grow into.
