The bracelet is magical

Athena's PoV

As I hurried out of Aphrodite's palace, preoccupied, I glanced at my bracelet. I didn't know why, but the bracelet made me feel calm, content, and better about myself. I usually don't like wearing jewelry, because it really is too much hassle, but I think that this one will be staying on for a long time.

I bumped into someone, a minor god, I think, and apologized. However, he was so impertinent and just stared at my- er, cleavage when I tried to help him up. He had a glazed look on his face, and without warning, grabbed my face and tried to kiss me.

Fortunately, I had overcome my shock by then, and I quickly twisted his arm, and in a move so much like my favorite daughter, flipped him over my back and onto the floor, while I strode away.

Only then did I notice that my new bracelet was acting... magical. The owl was glowing with a faint silver light that was barely noticeable. It thrummed with a pattern that was rather like a heartbeat, and became slightly warm.

Panicked, I took the bracelet off. What was this? I performed some magic on the bracelet, and sensed nothing sinister. There was no love potion or love related magic, so I assumed that Aphrodite hadn't cursed it.

Just then, Poseidon came running toward me.

"What's happened? I haven't missed anything, I hope?" He asked breathlessly.

"That guy over there," I nodded my head toward the general direction I had left the guy, "tried to sexually assault me. I took care of the problem, though."

Poseidon had a dark expression on his face, though I thought I saw a faint hint of relief when I told him I took care of him. It was gone as quickly as it arrived though.

"Well, guess we're lucky that dude still in one piece then." So his usual snarky comments were back. Good, because I had no idea how to deal with his concern.

"Not like you would know, since you clearly have kelp for brains." I retorted, my cheeks coloring. Where did that come from? It was such an unusually unoriginal comment that even Poseidon looked taken aback.

"Well, since everything's alright, I guess I best be going." He rubbed his neck awkwardly. I smiled, finding this habit of his unexpectedly cute- whoa, what's wrong with me today? Must be that blessing messing with my head.

"See something you like?" Poseidon teased.

"No!" I said a moment too quickly. "I don't need your protection anyway."

As I walked past the sea god, I couldn't help but notice that he had a bracelet similar to mine, but glowing sea green, the same color as his eyes. He has really beautiful eyes, by the way- Holy Me, there's something wrong with me. I must go to Apollo tomorrow and get my brain checked out.

I flashed back into my room, and shoved my head in my hands. I thought I had gotten over that little crush I had on Poseidon years ago.
