The sea is raging

Poseidon's PoV

What was Athena about to say? What?

I nearly tear my hair out in frustration. My stupid heart was squabbling madly with my brain.

She never said that she liked you, idiot. She obviously doesn't. She hated you for thousands of years, remember? My brain taunted.

But she was so flustered, like someone in LURVEEE. My heart sang back.

But that's what she wouldn't act like. She's perfect, and beautiful, and calm, and composed, and always has something smart to say, and-

See, you're acting like how she was when she popped out. You like each other, maybe even love, so why are you in such deep denial? My heart challenged.

"Oh my gods of Olympus, will you just shut up?" I shouted to myself? I'm not sure at this point.

Someone cleared their throat behind me, and I turned to find Apollo behind me.

"Hi." he said feebly. "Erm, so there have been reports of a ridiculous amount of ships sinking in the ocean? So, erm, would you mind checking it out? Thanks." He bolted out of the room as quickly as possible.

I sighed, realizing that I had let go of my control in frustration. As soon as damage control was finished, I decided to busy myself with something. You know, I might just check up on Percy. Make sure he's doing alright.

I pop down to Camp Half-Blood, where Percy was teaching the younger demigods sword fighting. Percy looked surprised to see me. I really don't know why.

"Can I talk to you for a sec, son?"

Percy nods, still shocked.

"How are you doing?" I ask, feeling like the terrible, neglecting father that I am. I mean, I try to check up on him but after he turned four, he remembered too much, and Zeus got pretty upset at me for being an active(ish) father to Percy. I was just trying to be nice, but here we go. In trouble again.

"Um, okay, I guess, but why are you here? What favor are you going to ask me?" He says exasperatedly.

"Nothing. I just wanted to check on you to see how things are going." I reply, completely truthful. I willed for Percy to see how honest I was being. It seemed that I succeeded.

"Why now?" He questions in answer. "Why wait so long after the war?"

"Long? Well, I guess since At- a goddess was in a coma for a bit and I was waiting for her to wake."

"A goddess? Who? And," He faltered mid-sentence. "And aren't you, like, married to Amphitrite anyway?" Yes, and I like Athena.

"We got divorced." I put it plainly.

"Oh," Percy muttered. "I'm going to miss her cookies. They're not as good as mom's, of course, but still pretty dam good."

"How's your mother, by the way?" Sally is almost like a goddess. She's in love with Paul now, though, and I respect that. Estelle is pretty cute, so I guess that makes up for it.

"She's doing well. Paul is, too, still grading the English essays."

"Well, it was nice seeing you today, son, swing by my palace if you want. I know you probably don't, though. Er, your girlfriend can come too."

Percy watches me numbly as I get ready to pop away.

"Thanks, son."

"See you, dad."

A/N: this is absolute poop and I have no idea what to write. Now I'm just procrastinating and not doing my English homework. I'm kind of screwed.
