Aphrodite's PoV

I smiled a little as Athena left. Athena made a powerful ally, and contrary to what some may believe, I don't hate her. Sure, she stood for virginity, and as the goddess of sexuality, I may not have the most in common with her, but she had always been more open-minded to love than the other virgin goddesses.

Athena, I think, was supposed to be in love- and she was a bit- before she took the vow of celibacy and made me powerless against her in terms of making her fall in love. I know she took the vow to prevent potential humiliation and jealousy from the other gods, but she didn't have anything necessarily against the notion of being in love- except that it might cloud her judgement.

For a goddess of Wisdom, she was plenty dumb. If she were to be in love, she would be the rational one of the couple, and if they are in danger, she would be the one who would come up with a solution that allow them to escape unharmed. If she had been Pasiphaë, she would have realized that she was being cursed by me, and somehow work her way around and make me break the curse. I don't know, but just something like that. Ask her, she's the genius, not me. You know what? You get my point. She would be perfect if she was in love with the right person.

I was torn away from my musings by one of my handmaidens. "Lady Aphrodite." She bowed. "It has come to our attention that the top ship is in imminent danger. Er- I mean, more than usual."

"Percabeth." I muttered under my breath. I conjured up my crystal screen, and- "Tartarus. They're about to fall in Tartarus." I couldn't do anything about that. Tartarus' pull is too strong, and it was all happening too fast for me to even think of a solution.

Percy's hand was crammed in the small ledge, still holding on, but barely. His other hand gripped Annabeth's tightly, dangling dangerously close to the pit.

"Nico!" He shouted.  "Meet me on the other side, promise me you'll be there!" After seeing Nico nod, he let go of his tiny ledge.'

As they fell, Percy said one of the singularly most touching thing that I have ever heard in all of my immortal existence: "We're staying together. You're not getting away from me. Never again."

Annabeth replied, "As long as we are together." And together, they fell, into the deepest, darkest pit of hell, where no demigod, or god had survived (except the di Angelo boy). I took a deep breath. Now to break the news to Athena and Poseidon, and at the same time, Operation Pothena. Oh boy, I was not looking forward to this.
