After traveling about 2 hours to just outside of Hereford, England to the SAS base you are going to be now living and working in, you get out of the camo-colored military truck, just to meet a line of 4 soliders. The couple more recruits jumping out of the truck after you, create a bit of a chaos as they start chatting and joking before they notice the soliders. One of them, who seems to be the Captain, steps forward from his place in the line, looking at the recruits who are still chatting. Y/n stands straight, looking back at them, not saying a single word.
"Soliders! Welcome to the SAS base. Please, stand up in a line and let us show you where you will be living for the rest of the month." The Captain seems a bit nervous, but more stern as he looks through the recruits. One of them is still chuckling with another. "One more word and you are out of the competiton."
Wait, what competiton? Y/n looks around the other recruits, thinking she must have misheard something.
"Now, that I've mentioned it; In the next couple of weeks, you will all go through the toughest trainings, practices and the weakest will leave the competiton. The last one standing will get the only place remaining in our Task Force."
The rules are simple. Don't. Be. Weak.
As the Task Force members lead you through the training rooms, the firing range and the barracks, you can't help but feel a pair of stern eyes on your back. Obviously, when you turn to check, nobody's looking at you. You don't pay too much attention to this, but still while walking along with the Captain, you feel weird and so sure that those eyes are still staring at your back.
"Today, you all will go through a test to let us see how much you actually know about how things work in the SAS, and after that, you can go and look around in the base, freely."
As y/n looks around the Task Force members, she meets one of the soliders eyes, staring back at her. He's wearing a skull-printed balaclava on his head, but thank god it doesn't cover those beautiful honey-like brown eyes. It's like she cant't pay attention to anything else than the large, at least 6 feet tall man's eyes who also can't seems to be able to look away. The moment she finally realises what her attention should be on, the group has already moved on to go to the room they'll be learning more things in and where they'll also be taking the test. As she takes a place at one of the desks, the skull-masked solider gives them all the papers and he takes a second to look at y/n's face before moving onto the next person.
"Now, before you start, my name Is Captain John Price. The rest of the Task Force is; Lieutenant Simon 'Ghost' Riley, Sergeant Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick and Sergeant John 'Soap' Mactavish. You may call us by our rank or sir until when we tell you otherwise." He looks around the recruits, looking up at the clock on the wall. "Now, you may start the test."
Y/n is the first one to finish in about 5 minutes, when they actually had 15. She brings it to the Captain, standing in front of him.
"Are you finished, solider?"
"Yes, sir." She nods.
"What's your name?" His eyes never leave hers as he looks way too unimpressed with her time on the test.
"It's y/n, Captain." She keeps his gaze just as stern as he does, which makes him sigh a bit.
"Okay, solider." He looks at the masked man. "Ghost, would you please take her to the recruit barracks?" Ghost nods and looks back at y/n, starting to walk out of the room without a word and she quickly follows him. At the same time, while he takes one step, y/n has to take at least two to catch up to the big man, who she only stands at about his shoulders height. The silence between them fills y/n with awkwardness, but the huge solider seems untouched by this.
"You're a woman." He says silently, but sternly. Y/n looks up at him, seeming a bit confused.
"Yes, I am."
"What are you doing here then?" She looks away, a bit embarassed by the question, which gives her the feeling of disrespect in a way. She stays silent, but Ghost looks down at her. "Are you deaf?"
"No, sir." She shakes her head. "I'm here because it was always my dream to be a solider, to help people in need."
"I will make sure you are out of this competiton the second I see you weak. Understood?"
"Yes, sir." She nods.
When they get to the barracks, she throws her bag down on the floor next to the first bed she sees, looking back at Ghost.
"If you need something, I'm not the one you should look for. But Soap, I am sure will like your company." He turns around, exiting the room. She just looks after him, somewhat baffeled by how he's basically saying that she shouldn't be here because she's a woman.
