"Y/n.. We have to have a talk about this all, okay?" He looks at you as soon as you step out of the bathroom.

"Am I getting lectured?" You sit next to him on his bed, laying back to relax a bit.

"You can't like me." He says sternly. "I'm way too old for you, I'm also your superior officer and you don't even know what I look like or anything about me, really.."

"I know a lot of things about you, Ghost." She looks at him. "I know that you find me pretty and that you care about me." She smiles.

"Quit being delusional. I only care about you because we're soliders. If there's a mission, I can't be helping you blow your nose while shooting at people. And yeah, maybe you don't look too bad, but you're really just average."

"Shut up.." She sighs, sitting up to look at his eyes. "I'm not delusional, I know how you look at me.. How you carried me on the mission, how you were checking the water to be perfect just now! You care and you can't deny it."

"Just because your father didn't love you, doesn't mean that I have to take care of your problems, understand? I am a stone-cold solider and I do not care the slightest about you." He raises his voice, standing up.

"What the fuck, Ghost.." Her eyes fill with tears, but his eyes soften the second he sees them.

"That's not how I meant it. I just don't want you think that we could have a chance. You're pretty, but not for me, okay?" He steps closer as you stand up, gently holding your arm.

"Well, why not for you?"

"God, y/n.. You're 18, you can't be serious that you want a grandpa like me." He sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Well, what if I do?" She leans closer.

"Stop it.." He takes a couple steps back. You roll your eyes, leaving his quarters to go to your own. "Don't be mad, little girl.. You've gotta understand that I'm almost 38 and you're just a kid."

"I told you that I couldn't care less!" You raise your voice at him as you turn to look back at him for a second before leaving finally.

For the rest of the weekend you try to avoid Ghost as best as you can. When you go training, you go to the other side of the room if he happens to be there and if you see him walking up to you, you leave. In the firing range or in the cafeteria, even when you see him, you try to just focus on something else.

A couple days later, when the team is back to normal and the base is filled up with soliders again, you can't really spot him anywhere. You're in the firing range now, testing a new sniper, but you've barely used one before.

"What are you doing?" You hear Ghost's voice. "You aren't even holding it right, y/n." He sighs, walking up to you as you try to ignore him. "Straighten up." He gently puts his hands under your elbows.

"Leave me alone."

"Stop the attitude. I'm here to help you, private." He rolls his eyes. "You have to put the tripods down on the surface here." He points at the small shelf-looking bottom half of the window that you're shooting through. You refuse to comply for a second. "It's a command.."

"Just please leave."

"Do as I say, now." You can feel his hot breath on the crook of your neck as you finally complete his order. "Fix your posture, y/n. Straighten your back. That's the only way to make a good shot." He wants to touch your shoulders so badly, but he keeps back. "Now, look through the scope and aim a bit over the head. Deep breath when you're ready and hold it while you're shooting."

You take a deep breath and his hands slip to your waist purely to provide you with some support as you shoot. And, bang on, a perfect headshot.

"Okay, I know how to do it now, just leave me alone.." You roll your eyes, but he keeps his hands on your waist.

"Communication is the only thing we need here, and if you're not capable of that, you could cost the team big time. We can't work together if we hate each other, y/n." He whispers, leaning to your ear. "But, I guess no is no, so do come and find me once you realise your little mistake, little girl."
