"Solider!" You hear a sharp voice from next to you, waking you up in an uncomfortable way.
"Mhm.. What?" Y/n murmurs as she pulls the blanket on her head.
"Get up." As you finally recognise Ghost's voice, your eyes open to look at him. "It's time for training." He walks to the door as you sit up and look to the clock on the wall.
"It's 4 am?" She looks at Ghost, not even really able to open her eyes.
"Yeah. Thank god you're not blind yet. Get up and start dressing. Meet me in the training room in 5 minutes." With that he leaves and y/n can't help but lay back for a second, that quickly turns into 10 minutes. When she looks back at the clock to see if she still has some time, obviously she already finds herself late, quickly starting to dress up and rush down to the training room. "You're late." Ghost stares at her. "Exactly 8.5 minutes."
"I'm sorry, sir." She walks up to him.
"So it's true? That women take more to dress and get ready than men?" Really? He's taking revenge by being sexist again?
"Yeah, because I like to look good even when I'm just here to train. Not like you as it seems."
"We're getting ready for war, not prom." He rolls his eyes.
"Yeah, and I will take out a mirror in the middle of shooting someone if my hair isn't sitting the right way." She smirks, but Ghost doesn't seem to appriciate the joke.
"Have you ever killed someone, little girl?" She feels her heart beating faster at the nickname, but it also creates a kind of hatred and a feeling that he's just trying to disrespect her again.
"No, sir."
"Then believe me when I say; The first is the hardest. Like most things in life. The first love, the first class in secondary school, the first ever driving lesson you may take." His gaze softens a bit, but he still looks pretty mad for y/n's jokes. "The difference is that taking a life away is hard every single time. You either turn into a monster without feelings at the end of the day, or you'll give up once your brain can't digest that you have taken a soul and you will break down." The silence sets in for a minute as he steps closer and leans down to her level. "I'd appriciate it if we stayed professional and if you would just stop your stupid and childish jokes."
Y/n nods, feeling embarassed."I'm sorry, sir." She looks up at him. "I just thought you didn't hate me as much as you did when I started the competiton. I just wanted to be friendly, but I undertand your opinion and I will stop."
"Thank you." He nods and looks around the training room.
As they start training, y/n can't help but stare at him in all the small breaks and even while she's doing whatever task she's given, her gaze is always around him. That big frame and his arms, everything is so perfect on him it's actually illegal to look this good as this man does.
"Hey, let's rest a bit. You can barely breathe." Ghost stands in next to her, his arms crossed against his chest.
"I'm alright to do more.." She feels like she wants to impress him so badly. She has to make him proud, but.. Why? What is this feeling?
"I said let's rest, y/n." He says a bit more sternly, so she stops doing push-ups and just sits on the floor. Her breathing is still heavy as she throws herself back to lay down a bit, her eyes closed. "How tired would you say you're feeling on a scale from 1-10?"
"I would say 0."
"Don't try to impress me."
"I have to." She sighs. He looks at he a bit confused. "Otherwise you'll call back the other recruit and my dreams will vanish." She looks up at him. He slowly sits down next to her, staring at her face.
"I wasn't serious when I said that. You've won, the place is yours. And also, everyone thinks you're a good asset to the team and they do like you." He looks away.
"They do?" All she heard from that was 'yeah, you're good enough and I don't like you but for some reason the others do'.
"Most people at base thinks you're a bubbly naive teenage girl. You should watch out with most of the soliders here anyway, they'll think you're just a barrack bunny or something." Y/n rolls her eyes at that. "Yeah, I know it sounds sexist, but I just don't want you to get molested, yeah?"
"Okay." She nods, sitting up and looking him in the eyes.
"I'm serious, y/n. These are some hungry soliders and you are first woman they're seeing in months or hell, maybe even years. You're also young and an easy prey."
"Okay, I get it." She nods again. "I'll watch out, seriously."
