More Than Anything

It was a beautiful, sunny day in Los Angeles.
Jake was at the studio trying his best not to kill the band he was working with, and Jinxx was out of town on tour, so that left Andy an Alice alone for the day with the kids. It only seemed logical for Andy to bring Avery over for a play date.

Jake: 'what's the maximum sentence for a triple homicide??? I'm asking for myself.

Andy snorted at the text, and looked it up because of course he did.

Andy: 'multiple life sentences or death I believe. Chances of parole is slim. Unless you plead momentary insanity.'

Jake: '...'

Andy: 'Jake, no.'

Jake: 'the fact that I'm a father is the only thing saving these dumb fucks.'

Andy rolled his eyes in amusement at Jake's dramatic antics, and put his phone away. He had went out to the car to grab his charger, leaving the kids to play while Alice fixed coffee for the both of them.

Andy walked back into the house, still smiling from the exchange with his dear friend. He and Jake were closer than ever before, it was a wonderful thing and Andy was so happy to have his Jake back. The Jake that couldn't deal with stupid people for very long, the Jake who constantly cracked jokes and teased people, the Jake that hasn't been around since the divorce.

Lennon and Avery chased each other around the house, giggling wildly as they played tag. "Careful, please!" Andy called, barely dodging them as they ran around his legs.

"Okay!" They both yelled in unison, continuing the chase. Andy chuckled, knowing that they would not in fact be careful, but hey, at least he tried.

Alice laughed from her seat at the kitchen table, sipping on her coffee. "They are so active when they're together." She said with a bright smile.

"They really are." Andy laughed, sitting down across from her. "When is Lennon starting pre-k?" He asked, taking the mug that she slid over to him.

"Next year. He's so excited, but doesn't really understand that he won't be in the same class as Avery yet." Alice replied, watching as the two children rolled around on the floor.

"Poor little guy." Andy said with a sad smile. He loved how close those two were. It was so incredibly sweet.

"Yeah, I've tried telling him, but he doesn't get it yet. He will be upset, but frequent play dates should help." Alice said, cringing when Lennon ran straight into a wall. "Okay?" She asked, ready to stand up to get him.

"I'm good!" He yelled back, standing up and running after Avery.

"Jesus, kids are durable." Andy laughed.

"They certainly are." Alice replied with an amused smile.

"Do you think you guys will have any more?" Andy asked curiously.

"Probably not, we're happy with just Lennon and where Jinxx has to tour a lot, having more than one kid would just be hard." She said with a shrug. "What about you?"

"What about me?" Andy asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Do you want children one day." Alice replied. Andy tilted his head back in thought. "Honestly, I don't know. Nikki didn't want kids so I never really thought about it much. I guess if the right person came along, I would want to." Andy explained. "Avery, put Lennon down, please!" He laughed, looking up to Avery holding Lennon upside-down.

"You've adapted very well to this." Alice commented, earning a raised brow from the younger man. "What do you mean?" Andy asked, turning his full attention back to her now that there was no risk of any head or neck injury.
