"Jake, stop it!" Clara laughed, throwing a handful of flour right back at him.

It had started out as the three of them attempting to bake cookies, but quickly spiraled into a food foght.

"Get him, mommy!" Avery cheered her on, bouncing up and down.

"Hey! Why are you on her side?" Jake exclaimed, throwing chocolate chips at Clara.

"Because you started it, daddy!" Avery laughed.

Clara picked up an egg and Jake immediately scooped Avery up and held her in front of him.

"Don't use our daughter as a meat shield, coward!" Clara cackled.

"Don't throw an egg at me!" Jake countered, grinning as Avery giggled wildly.

"Don't egg me, mommy!" She laughed.

Clara slowly lowered the egg, but then suddenly ran around the table, catching Jake off guard and smashed it on his head.

Jake sat Avery down and immediately grabbed Clara by the waist, burying his head in her neck to smear the eggs into her hair and skin. Clara laughed, trying her best to wriggle out of his arms as Avery cackled.

Jake pulled his head away and looked down at his wife with a bright smile, both still giggling and breathing heavily. Avery ran over, pulling at Jake until he lifted her up so she could join the embrace.

"I love you." Jake mumbled, leaning in to kiss Clara-.

Jake woke up with a start to a heavy weight on his chest and frowned. "The fuck?" He groaned, opening his eyes to find a pair of pale green eyes staring down at him.

Crow was perched on his chest, his little face inches from Jake's. "Good morning?" He laughed. Crow willingly being near him was wild. Him actually being on top of him? Unheard of.

He checked the time, and groaned at how early it was. "Dude, it's the weekend." He sighed. He was offended that the damn cat woke him up.

Jake thought about sitting up, but jarring murder mittens seemed like an easy way to end up in the ER so he just laid there and accepted his fate.

Jake managed to get his phone off the coffee table without disturbing Crow. He pulled up a podcast, and turned the volume down low before he closed his eyes again. Some background noise would help him to fall asleep.

He decided to risk stroking Crow's back because he had the nerve to attempt to crush Jake's ribcage so he could suck it up and let Jake pet him.

It had been a very long night for Jake. He slept okay, but it was a new place and a new couch so he did a lot of tossing and turning before he finally convinced his body to go to sleep.

Avery had fallen asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow since she and Andy spent most of the evening playing. Andy was great with Avery.

Andy's couch was in fact very comfortable despite his difficulties, so sleeping on it would be perfectly fine for the foreseeable future. Crow seemed content curled up on his chest based on the purring.

Jake wasn't sure what time Andy would be getting up, so he tried to stay quiet. Hopefully he would fall back to sleep soon. He really didn't want to be awake at the ass crack of dawn.

Jake heard one of the bedroom doors open, and craned his neck to see who it was. Andy stumbled out of his room. His hair sticking up in a million different directions and his eyes squinted like he hadn't come to terms with the fact that he was awake yet.
