Chapter 22: The First Job

Here I am at last. Even my clothes are ready, I chose to wear a corporate attire – a mixture of black and white to be elegant. All I need to do is do well in the interview tomorrow. I can do this. I will be accepted in BigHit as their accountant or production staff or whatever is in there for me.

I will be hired by BigHit tomorrow.

I wrote it in a pretty piece of paper and posted it on my wall. I know I would be hired and it would happen. I could see myself in my own office with my desk and eventually meeting Bangtan inside the workplace, maybe in the hallway? This is it. I will reap everything tomorrow – from all my hardwork in my finishing my degree to all the efforts I exerted in studying the Korean language by myself. Everything is written and I will live those dreams starting tomorrow. I felt asleep dreaming of my future reality.

I really hated the sound of alarm in the mornings especially that my dreams are happy but I can't pretty recall those. But, is it BigHit interview today? The post-it note pasted on the wall reminded me of that. I thought to myself that it was another plain day so I prepared myself, including a handful of confidence. I will surely be working for BigHit.

"Han Seorin", the secretary called me to enter inside the room. It's my turn now. I feel nervous but as what I have learned, you should learn how to not show it. This is just a normal feeling especially this will be my first time job ever in abroad.

Only think of him or her as a teacher, Seorin. Fighting!

But to my surprise, I know that this will not be a typical job interview...

...from the moment I stepped inside the room.

It's Bang Si Hyuk PD nim. Tension in my body starts. I can feel it.

"G-Good morning, Sir?" I slightly bowed as a sign of respect. He gestured me to be seated in one of the chairs in front of his desk.

This is it. this is it. But it seems there will be something more.

I am slowly absorbing that PD nim is in front of me, I can't believe that he himself would conduct the interview. It seems like I'm studying his face and reactions while he is skimming through my papers.

Bang PD nim, please accept me. I said in my mind. By the way, I only knew of the hiring because of Appa and this seems to be fine. Bighit, the home of my past beloved boys.

"So you learned Korean by yourself?"

"Yes, I think it would be shameful to have a Korean blood and not knowing the Korean language. It was my mother who is a Korean nationality, and we don't have much emphasis in using the language at home."

The interview covered about my personal and professional life that it lasted for about half an hour.

"Okay, you can start next week. If there would be any additional reminders, we will just reach you using e-mail."

"Did you said that I'm just hired?"

Oh yes! I'm hired, I'm hired! I'll be working for Bighit now! And would that mean that I will see BTS around? It will be okay if they would not be able to notice me but at least there are chances of seeing them in person. I just wanted to see the persons who were once part of my success and gave me inspiration. I would be luckier if I could just thank them. After all, they once made me happy.

This is my first day of work but it seems to be big one. I must be presentable enough!

I arrived at the office one hour before. I want to explore the place. I'll might be meeting Bangtan along the way. That would be daebak.
