A few days passed her quicker than she expected after being trapped in busy schedules Monday to Thursday.
She was finally feeling like herself after getting everything done through the week.
She had been staying in a hotel all week and had finally looked into getting an apartment.
Once she got paid she would have enough to get the apartment she had been looking at and researching.
Hazel stood in the school gym as students and teachers planned the dance next Tuesday.
She had been set as a chaperone along with coach and Garrett.
She was looking forward to it as she had grown to really enjoy Garrett's company.
He made her feel happy and comfortable as he never judged her for her stories passed down from her grandfather or the mass amount of stress on her shoulders.
He was just perfect.
"I wonder how all this will turn out" Garrett walked up to her.
She looked up at him.
"The students do well," she said.
"How are you doing?" he asked.
"Better.
I might be able to finally get my own apartment.
I've been saving for a while.
I guess I knew eventually I would end up needing my own place" she said.
"That's good," he said.
"My classes also seem more empty now.
I don't know why but I expect a few of my students left.
I hope they're better off now" she said.
He looked at her "I'm trying not to think about it as it reminds me to much of a story my grandfather said.
He told me that he once was apart of a very large base and then it became almost empty.
He never knew why but after that he saw those riders.
I wish he was still here maybe he would know about all this.
About how the population is now dropping and no one knows why.
I don't even know why I just remember more people around" she said.
He listened to her as he realised that she was too smart for her own good but also how perfect she was.
It was as if she was made for him and only him.
"People may finally be moving away or going on early holidays.
I wouldn't worry about it" he said.
"Alright," she said.
Suddenly Mason walked up to her with a clipboard.
"Hi, Miss I just want to say thank you for letting Corey retake that test" he said.
"It's ok Mason," she said with a smile.
"I also wanted to give you this.
I saw it at a bookstore and knew you would like it.
It's about what we're doing now" he said as he handed her an old journal.
"You found this in a bookshop?" she asked.
"Yeah," he said.
"This is a journal.
My god this is incredible" she said as she opened the book.
"Oh, it's in German.
Sorry," he said.
"Don't worry I can speak German.
This must be a journal from a German soldier.
Mason thank you" she said as she smiled.
"It's no problem.
I better get going see you.
See you too Mr Douglas" Mason said before walking away.
She read a page as she had to stop herself from jumping around.
"How is this still in this condition?
It must be a copy but still" she said.
"I didn't know you spoke German," he said.
"I have a lot of German history books so I learnt the language so I could read them.
It's such a complex language" she said.
"Es ist"(It is) he said.
She looked at him and smiled.
"Wieso bist du so perfekt?"(Why are you so perfect?) she said.
He smiled as she looked into his eyes.
"I'm not perfect.
No one is perfect but our souls are similar" he said.
"It's like you were made for me.
I've never met anyone that was what I needed and here you are" she said.
