“You’re right,” Dylan said grimly. “His corpse is lighter according to my calculations.”
My eyebrows furrowed.
“And, that matters because...”
Tethra’s eyes widened.
"He's...he's alive?"
Dylan pressed his thumb on Nelv’s wrist.
"I can't feel his pulse, but....can we exit the Shavagriham? The environment here is making me uncomfortable. Also, get him out of here." Dylan said.
Just then, Zo Sae-hyun came into the room with a terrified expression.
“Diane! Dylan! Ne eomma Salahijan bu-in-I osyeossneunde maeu hwanan pyojeong-eul jisgo iss-eo nada geob-I nago—“
“Wait wait wait,” I said. “I'm sorry Sae-hyun, but we don’t understand what—“
That was the moment when Daphne stormed into the room.
“Diane! Ntýlan! I laídi Sarachizán eínai edó. Eínai thymoméni gia kápoio lógo kai érchetai kateftheían pros aftó to domátio. Prosochí giatí eímai tromokratiménos.”
I stared at her in confusion before I saw realisation dawning upon Dylan’s face. And, the very next second guess what happened?
Mom entered the Shavagriham.
And, yes, she did look livid.
She pulled her sword out of its hilt and rested it in such a way that both mine and Dylan's necks were a second away from being impaled.
With her furious stare upon us, she spoke, "Did you two ask Father to free Nelv's soul to be freed from the underworld so that he can gain another life!"
Dylan and I shared a look.
Uh-oh.
"What do you mean, mom?" I asked her.
She sighed, seeing that we were, in fact, not lying.
She withdrew the sword and put it back in its hilt.
"For some reason, Father let Nelv's soul leave the underworld and return to Earth." She said.
"His soul returned?" Dylan asked, bewildered.
Mom nodded.
"If he has been returned to Earth then there might be something really important that only Nelv could do." I pointed out.
"I'm afraid that you'll be proven right. For now, Dylan, treat the boy. Make sure he lives. Else it'll just be a waste to do some much paperwork because of that puny mortal."
Dylan nodded.
He turned to Sae-hyun and Daphne, who were cowering in the corner of the room, petrified.
"Help me to take him to the Chikitsyalayah."
***
"First, we have to give him CPR because he clearly doesn't have any pulse," Dy said, signalling towards the Heart-Rate Monitor.
We all nodded.
"Where are Luke and Elin?" He asked.
Lou-Anne looked grim as she said, "Elin is no longer present among us and Luke isn't available."
