(7th January, 2016)
The dinner went pretty well.
Seeing Amy in there was greatly shocking. When I confronted her, she had said that she’d left for Denver just after school. She’d caught a flight and had flown all the way from Delhi to Denver to visit her sick grandma.
I sympathised with her and apologised for being curious.
It went well.
“You know ‘bout the Declamation Competition?” Helly randomly said.
“No,” I said, my eyes widening in horror.
There was a Declamation Competition and I wasn’t even informed!
Blasphemy!
“You disappear for a month and you expect your teachers to take you in competitions when you haven’t even completed the syllabus?”
I took the information in.
“Good point,” I said as she rolled her eyes.
“I can’t believe that she placed me in the B Section,” Helly complained. “Now, I've to tolerate school without you!”
She spoke in a complaining tone but I still didn’t hear the sadness and devastation I thought I was certain to hear.
Then, it suddenly clicked.
“While enjoying the classes with Dylan’s presence?” I asked with a sly grin.
To my absolute delight, a dusty pink colour tinted her cheeks.
“N-no! What are you talking about?!” She stammered.
I just chuckled and bid her goodbye as my class came to my view.
“Bye-bye, Helly. See you at lunch.” I squeezed her hand and then let go as I entered my class.
Coincidentally, the bell rang as soon as I set my bag on the chair.
“Hello, Cara.” I heard Amy saying.
I turned.
“Hi, Amy. Is your grandma well?”
Confusion flickered in her eyes before she nodded.
Bhawna Ma’am found this the exact time to enter our class.
“Good Morning, Ma’am.” The whole class chorused.
“So, today, we’ll learn the names of compounds and their chemical names. And if you’ve not learnt them till tomorrow, I’ll make sure that you’ll get zero in your internals.”
Soon, I was learning what ma’am asked for because I certainly didn’t want to score zero in my internals.
Suddenly, the speakers blared.
“Attention, students! Two unfamiliar children have entered our school and one demanded a Diane Chedar.” I froze, hearing my name.
“If I'm right, this Diane Chedar is a terrorist along with those children. So—“ The principal’s voice was cut off, followed by a painful thud.
As if on cue, the classroom door was kicked open.
In stormed Tethra with a murderous expression on her face.
