Chapter 8: Admiration and Desperation

Rouge and Knuckles were walking back together to the beach with their two chao flying above them. Rouge's girl, Sapphire, was a blue jewel dark fly chao, while Chance was a very red power neutral chao. They both interacted with each other playfully, while Rouge suddenly heard some distant footsteps.

"Hey Knux, do you hear that?"

Upon turning around, he could not react any faster, but only scream out. 

"SSSOOOOOOOOOOONNNNIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCC!!!!!"

The blue blur crashed against him, leading both into the mist of sand everywhere. Shadow heard the screams and ran where they have been. He saw Sonic covered in sand, and Knuckles slowly standing up with a scowling face.

"Sonic, what type of stupidity are you going through right now?"

Sonic quickly stood up and helped his friend get on his feet. 

"Argh, I'm sorry Knuckles! I did not see you!"

Meanwhile, Rouge and the chao laughed out loud at the whole incident.

Knuckles was relaxed for a brief moment. "Haha, it's okay Sonic ... AFTER I LEAVE A HUGE PUNCH IN THE FACE!"

The blue blur immediately dodged the swift punch, but Knuckles would not stop until he could leave a scar on him. The short fight only resulted in hasty movements and angered fists before Rouge broke them apart. 

"Stop it! We are on a mission, and we cannot do this right now! Fiery Chaos is going to come soon and we have to alert the chao."

"Fiery Chaos? Mission?" Sonic asked.

"Yes, Sonic. We are going to try something extremely dangerous but Shadow thinks it might work."

"Might work?"

Rouge responded. "Shadow thinks that with the help of the chao, Fiery Chaos is going to lower down its flames."

Sonic thinks for a second. "So, are you saying with the power of friendship, he will calm down?"

Rouge and Knuckles facepalmed. "We're not here for jokes, Sonic. Since you are already here, might as well give us a hand."

"I got you! Consider it done ma'am!" and he ran away as soon as possible...without even telling the group what exactly he was going to do. They all sighed.

The group of three went to follow Fiery Chaos's nearby steps, where they finally found it taking away more energy from the animals. Its flames burned taller than usual. The moment it saw them, it began approaching. Knuckles quickly faced towards the flying chao. 

"Sapphire! Chance! Remember the plan I told you! Go near it but not too close! If it does something to you, just fly away to us!"

"Chao, chao!"

Shadow grasped his chaos emerald tightly, as to anticipate any upcoming danger.

When Fiery Chaos stood a few feet away from them, its eyes stared filled with ire and despair. Knuckles stopped it by calling it out.

"Look, I know you've been with that sick doctor and you feel angered, but I have to show you who you really are truly inside!"

The two chao slowly approached the hazardous enemy, although a little unsure of their actions. Sapphire looked at Chance as if signaling to start first. He sighed, but nodded.

"Chao, chao! Boo Boo bah! Bay chao bah doo?" 

Well, he continued talking to Fiery Chaos in its own language, and Sapphire acquired confidence to start talking too.
