Under the Name of Love (Sonadow)

Chapter 2: The Chao Abduction

A logo of S.S.N. displayed in big and bold red colors behind a blue professional background. A man in a clean navy blue suit materialized into the scene with special video effects. Generic news music played in the back loudly and clear.

"Hello and this is Station Square News giving you the latest city updates! Last night, someone broke into our most famous chao garden and witnesses reported a chao had gone missing! Upon inspecting the camera footage, it seems like one of Dr. Eggman's robots is to blame. But don't worry friends, Sonic and his friends were notified as soon as possible and are on their way to save the chao!"

The TV screen was suddenly turned off.

"Seriously now? Chao abductions? Eggman has reached a new low," exclaimed the sidekick, Miles Prower, or just Tails. Next to him, Sonic furrowed his brows. "I can't believe it this time. He really is trying to target the innocent ones lately." He immediately hopped out of the wooden chair and tried to speed out through the workshop's door, where Tails immediately held him back.

"Hold on a second! Don't tell me you were already trying to head for Eggman's secret base when you don't even know where it is."

Sonic chuckled. "Heh... yes?"

"Sonic, no! Don't you see that I already made a scanner device that detects any Eggman's machinery? C'mon, let's hop on the plane and grab that tablet over there!"

Tails grabbed a controller with a single button. Once he pressed it, the huge door gates opened upwards, revealing the Tornado 2 positioned outside. Meanwhile, Sonic already sat behind the plane as he analyzed Tails's brand new tablet. It appeared like a simple transparent screen that showed the map of the world in binary colors, but he could also see through it and inspect the outdoors's scenery. Tails finally got his toolbox and then started the plane's engine. 

"You know," spoke Sonic, "I'm impressed, Tails! You could easily defeat Eggman yourself without any of my help!"

Tails laughed as he looked behind. "Yeah, thank you, Sonic. I always try to do my best. I guess that's why I'm doing all this, right?"

The plane gradually moved and then accelerated, now heading towards the sky. 

In the meantime, Shadow was analyzing and re-checking G.U.N papers at work, just boring paperwork and no fighting practice this time. However, Rouge had just clocked out for lunch and before she headed out, she went to talk to her best friend. 

"Shadow! Did you hear about the news? I swear Eggman is coming up with worse ideas every time. I mean, how could you do that to a chao? What horrors is he going to do with it?" she exclaimed nervously. 

"Oh, yeah, I heard." 

Rouge lowered her eyelids. 

"...Do you even care about the chao!? I swear you are so cold sometimes."

In reality, Shadow did care, he was just too focused trying to finish his assignments, and well, too many sad stories had made him emotionally numb.

Rouge continued. "Ugh! Whatever, I'm on break and that means I get to call my cutie Knuckles! Yay~!"

 Shadow sighed as he saw her leave his boring, small office. 

Knuckles was sleeping, snoring loudly on top of the master emerald, and various kinds of chao surrounded the area that was Angel Island. Suddenly, a red phone which was right next to him started ringing. Eventually, the loud sounds got to him and his face started blushing, kicking his legs as a result. As soon as he opened his eyes, he answered the phone. He had been so grateful ever since Tails had created a phone for him, especially now because he has Rouge to talk to. Sonic has one too, but... let's just say that Tails keeps it with him all the time.
