For the debt I owe, gotta sell my soul
Cause I can't say no, no, I can't say no
Then my limbs all froze
And my eyes would close
And I can't say no, I can't say no
———————Caitlyn had actually been sleeping well the past couple of nights. She usually struggled to stay asleep back at home, so this was good. Maybe she needed to work this hard so she could actually sleep properly.
It had to have been the middle of the night because there was hardly any sound outside. Caitlyn woke up feeling the need to use the bathroom. For some reason, she couldn't move. The only thing she could really move were her eyes. Even still, they were focused on one specific part of the room, giving Caitlyn a slight tunnel vision.
Suddenly, she tried to close her eyes and force herself to fall back to sleep but it wouldn't happen. Then she heard the door of the room creak but she realized she couldn't turn her head to look. She was hoping it would be Vi or Ekko, but she was sadly mistaken.
A dark figure. A dark figure made its presence known and stood at the edge of the cot Caitlyn at been sleeping on. She felt a sense of suffocation on her throat and chest and began to feel herself hyperventilating. The figure came closer, practically crawling towards her face.
Caitlyn began to regain some sense of feeling as she attempted to wiggle her fingers. The feeling came up her arms and to her shoulders. As Caitlyn's paralysis faded, the figure began to slowly back away out of the room. The dissipated air came back to her lungs and she was able to sit up. She didn't scream, she just sat there making sure she could move properly. She felt tears of fear stream down her cheeks as she regained everything again. She tried to comprehend what happened, but couldn't. She couldn't go back to sleep either in fear that it would happen again and that the intruder would come back again.
"Caitlyn, are you okay?" A voice asked. Caitlyn looked up to see Vi leaning on the doorway, "What's wrong? You look like you've just seen a ghost."
"I-I'm fine," Caitlyn stuttered wiping the tears away. She still struggled to catch her breath.
"Did you have a bad dream or something?"
"N-no, it wasn't that, I- I just..."
Vi just nodded and walked off.
Please stay, Caitlyn thought, I don't wanna be alone when it happens again, please.
She couldn't find the words or the courage to say that to Vi. So she just sat there and waiting for the morning to rise.
~~~~~~~~~
For the first time in the past couple of days, Caitlyn decided to get out of the room for a few minutes. She would attempt to walk down the steep steps. Maybe that was her issue. Maybe she had been isolating herself for too long and that's why the intruder showed up. Her chest still hurt a little but she was fine. She never fell back to sleep because she was too scared to.
As Caitlyn reached the final step, she tripped and fell into someone's arms. Of course it had to be Vi, "You okay?" Vi asked.
"I'm fine," Caitlyn said, "Just thought I should come down here."
"I told Ekko it was a mistake putting you all the way up there."
"It's okay, I don't mind."
"Right, well... do you need anything?"
"No, I'm just gonna sit down somewhere. If that's fine."
"Yeah, of course." Caitlyn felt Vi rub her arm as she walked by her.
