Chris
That really fucked me up. Like, what is Kehlani doing here? I haven't seen her in five years.
"Yo, playa', you ready for this game?" Tyga asked me, though my mind was still on Kehlani. "Aye, Chris, you good?"
"Yeah, just... thinking about something," I replied honestly. "What'chu say?"
Right before Tyga was about to answer my question, it was time for us to play. We got into our positions on the court once the alarm sound rang.
"Alright, we gonna kick ass tonight, right, fellas?" The coach exclaimed enthusiastically.
"You know we are," Trey responded. I shook my head. This ain't the damn NBA. To me it wasn't that deep.
"On three," the coach began. "1, 2, 3, break!"
We separated from the huddle then and began to prep for the game to actually begin.
I looked over at Kehlani for a split second. She looked back at me too before quickly cupping her hand over Vanessa's ear, whispering to her.
I hated when people did that. It was one of biggest pet peeves.
I hadn't even noticed we were playing until I saw the other team get two points.
"Chris, man, pay attention." Trey told me when he zoomed past me. "I'ma throw to you, a'ight?"
I nodded, going over to where my team was. I glanced over to Kehlani's way once more. This time Vanessa was whispering something to Kehlani, causing them both to fall into a fit of laughter.
I didn't know what was being said between the two, but it was pissing me off. I just knew they was talking shit. They were the queens of Shit-Talking from what I remembered.
Suddenly a basketball hit me square in my jaw. "Yo, what the fuck?!" I shouted angrily, as I held onto it.
"I warned yo' ass, man." Trey said. "Pay a-fuckin'-ttention. We losing."
He was right. It was so far 20 to nothing. I don't even know when or how that happened to be honest.
"Alright, I'm in, man, I'm in." I said.
"One more screw-up, and you're benched, Brown," I heard the coach say from the sidelines.
"I said, I'm in." I repeated with attitude.
Finally the ball was thrown to me, I caught it and began to run with it to the net. However once I jumped to make the shot, Drake (who was on the opposite team) knocked it out of my hand. Mighty aggressively, might I add.
"Do we got a problem?" I asked, getting in his face.
"I don't know, you tell me." He replied.
I shoved him and he shoved back. I pulled my arm back to punch him, but I felt someone grab it and pull me back. It was the coach. He brought me to the seats on the sidelines.
I was officially benched.
"That is enough." He told me sternly. "This is supposed to be something fun, but you're turning it into something ugly. Therefore, you're disqualified from the game."
I shrugged my shoulders and sucked my teeth. I didn't care. I was still gonna be making money from the bullshit game by just showing my face.
"Chris," I heard Karrueche's small voice call my name.
"What?" I responded, looking back.
"What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing, I'm just chillin'." I replied casually.
"Ugh," she groaned. "You are so weird sometimes, I swear."
The whole time I was looking back at Karrueche I noticed Kehlani in my peripheral looking at me too. However she had more of a disgusted look and mean mug on her face as well as Vanessa.
"Yo, for real, if you got something to say to me, tell me right now, 'cause you gettin' on my nerves." I told her finally.
"Um, excuse you? How dare you talk to someone like that who you just met?" she spoke sarcastically.
"Cut the bullshit, Kehlani. You been mean-mugging me since the minute you saw me." I said. "Like, what's the deal? What's up?"
She turned the corners of her mouth down and shrugged. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
"See? That's exactly why I couldn't rock with you no more." I stood from my seat. "You started acting childish. Like, you really can't get over something that happened five years ago?"
"Oh, I'm sorry for thinking our friendship meant more than just something you could throw away." Kehlani argued. "What was I thinking, because it clearly meant nothing to you?" There she went with that damn sarcasm.
"I was going through a rough time, okay? I was about to go to jail." I said.
"What you failed to realize, Chris, I could've been there for you." She stood from her seat then too. "You needed a friend and I could've been that friend... and much, much more."
"Instead you livin' it up with a bitch whose name sounds like coochie," Vanessa added, causing Sevyn to snicker quietly.
"Matter fact, I don't even wanna be here anymore. Can we go?" Kehlani asked Vanessa.
"Gladly," she said, grabbing her purse. I watched as the girl I wanted to stay most walk away from me.
Again.
