Chicks

"Chirp!"

Ying stopped in her tracks.

'Hm? What's that sound?' She questions, looking around to find the source.

She felt something hitting her right foot, she looked down to see a yellow fur ball. 'Hm?' Ying blinked her eyes, looking at it closer it looked to be a baby chick, who was pecking her foot. "Chirp!" The animal chirps, looking up at her.

Ying gasped, her pupils grew, it seems as though there were stars in her eyes as she looked at the baby chick. It chirps again at her, she couldn't held her voice as she squealed, "Aww, soo cute!" She said, putting her palms on her face.

"What are you doing here?" She cooed, bending down to pat it. The chick happily accepted the touch as it leans in. She carefully picked it up with both of her hands when it seems to trust her. The baby chick settles into her palms making the girl squeal even more by its adorableness.

"Chicky!"

Ying looked up at the sound, the air feels warmer when she saw the fire element came from the corner of the hallway. The two locked eye contact, the fire element opened his mouth about to say something but closed it again when his eyes caught the baby chick on her hands.

"There you are!" Blaze shouted, his previous tense face is now relaxed. "Chicky!" He cried, he opened his arms as he approached the two. The baby chick chirps happily upon seeing him, it hopped into his hands. Ying was sad for a second but went back to usual as she asked him, "Chicky?".

Blaze, who was patting the chick, turned his attention to her. "That's the name of this baby!" He enthusiasticly said, holding the baby chick up, now known as Chicky, close to her face making her back up. "Chirp!" The both of them grinned, they seem to be radiating light behind them.

"What kind of name is that?" Ying said. "What? It's cute," Blaze pouted, "Right?" He asked the baby chick on his palms, it chirps happily at him. "See? Chicky likes it!" He grinned showing his teeth. "Well, whatever." She mumbled, sweat dropping.

"Anyway, since when did you have a baby chicken?" She asked, confused since she never seen him adopt a chicken before. "Just a few days ago." He shrugged. "The canteen lady gave some of her baby chicks to me since I kept coming over to play with them." He explained. "Wait, chicks? Plural?" The glasses girl questioned.

"Yup! I have five of them!" Hearing that, Ying became concerned. "Do you even know how to take care of a baby chick? Let alone five of them?" She asked, crossing her arms. Blaze avoided her eyes, "Well... Of course.." He replied. Ying narrowed her eyes at him, not convinced. "Alright! Alright! I don't know how, okay!?" Blaze said flustered. "But.. I can learn" He sheepishly smiled. Ying deadpan at him.

Ying sighed, "Well, just make sure to take care of them properly." She advised. "Of course!" Blaze brightens again, grinning widely. He thought for a second before stopping the girl who was about to go away, "Do you wanna see the others?" He asked. His face showed eagerness that Ying couldn't refused, "... Sure".

"Tada!!" Blaze exclaims, extending his hands towards the baby chicks in the box. "I haven't bought a house for them yet. So, they live here for now." He sheepishly said, scratching the back of his neck. Ying leans down to have a better look of them. As she got closer, they chirped at her. Startled by the noise, Ying backed up.

"Oh! They seem to like you!" Blaze said, putting down Chicky into the box with her other siblings. As soon as they reunited, they all chirped at each other, hopping around happily. "Really?" Ying asked, still looking at them. She smiled seeing them happy.

Ying straightens her back, turning her head to look at him. "You should be careful not to use your fires." She said, putting her right hand on her waist. "You might turn them into fried chicken." She remarked.

"Relax~ It won't happen." He said nonchalantly, waving his hand. "And besides they like my fire tricks." He smiled smugly. Then he summons his fireballs, he threw one of them into the air and catches them while throwing another one up in the air. He repeated the action multiple times.

The baby chicks stopped what they were doing and looked at the fireballs, mesmerised by it. When he dispersed his fires, they chirped at him, wanting to see it again.

"See?" He said, catching all the fireballs before disappearing them. Ying gave him an unamused look, "Is that even considered as a trick? You're just juggling them." She said, crossing her arms. "Hmph, I have other cool tricks, you know?" The fire element pouted.

"Really?" Ying asked, smirking. "Show me then." Blaze grinned at the provocation before summoning a small fire disk. The glasses girl leaned back to watch him, arms crossed.

He flipped the fire disk into the air with his thumb, then he rolled it on his knuckles, before throwing it into his free hand and throwing it back to the other hand into his index and middle finger. It disappeared as he finishes. All this without looking.

"I have more if you want?~" Blaze smirked. Without waiting for a response from the glasses girl, Blaze flip his right thumb up, fire lit up on his thumb, the fire formed into a fireball and he rest it in between his fingers, rolling it back and forth between the spaces. He then flip his hand, so that his palm faces up, catching the ball into it.

Blaze threw the fireball into his mouth, biting into it before gulping it down. Sliding his thumb across his bottom lip, as if he just ate a delicious meal. At this point, Ying was confused. He opened his mouth a little with smoke coming out, then shaped his mouth into a circle. He puffed out a smoke ring, it formed into a ring of heart before it goes through her, dispersing in the process. Thankfully, the smoke didn't go into her lungs.

"How's that?! Cool right?" He boasted, smiling smugly. Ying rolled her eyes at him, she then smiled, "Yeah, it is." Blaze's smug face was about to fall but he kept it on, his cheeks slowly reddened.

"Chirp!"

The two teens snapped out of their thoughts. They turned their heads to look at the baby chicks in the box. "Chirp! Chirp!" The both of them laughed seeing them.
