Lucy groaned as she slid into the drivers seat of her car, drumming her thumbs up against the steering wheel. To be honest there was too much running through her head to formulate a single real thought other than "shit," She had fucked up, big time. She'd put her emotions and insecurities on Tim and she knew it was wrong. But part of her was also a little mad. Not at him, exactly. Just angry. They're usually really good at talking things out. They're good at a lot of things. Solving crime, paintball, fucking, fighting even. But they're really good at talking things out. So she'd expected that. She had expected to go back to her apartment and argue a little about what to order in for dinner. She'd expected to study for her stupid fucking exam and to kiss and make up.

But she had thrown that all away with her own fucking word vomit, that comment about isabelle. It came out of left field, her own insecurities fighting their way past her teeth and shooting out at him. She saw the way her words affected Tim. She felt them leave her mouth and then watched them sink into his soul, his eyes growing dark as she threw in that one jab. That one little stab that she knew would draw blood. She'd picked a scab that was healing, and now it would scar.

"SHIT," she cried out, surprising herself. Lucy slammed her palms against the steering wheel hard and then leaned her head up against it. She shot up a little bit as the car let out a loud honk. Her eyes darted up in shock, glancing around to make sure nobody saw that it was her car it had came from. Upon seeing, or actually, the lack of seeing anyone, she slumped back down in her seat. Ready to head right back into her pity party.

She drove home in silence, not bothering to turn on the radio or anything. She had a sneaking fear that clown music might start playing.

Back at her apartment, she slung her purse onto one of the kitchen stools and pathetically made her way to the refrigerator, "looks like tonight it's a you and me date," she mumbled, picking up a sad old bowl of leftovers. She peeled the cling wrap back to discover that it was the remains of some pasta from about a week ago. Ew. Well, better than nothing.

While she waited for her pasta to reheat, Lucy spread out her books and laptop onto the counter, setting up for what looked like a long night of studying wildcards. OR not wildcards, or even just anything.

The apartment was too quiet. She'd grown used to Tim being there, their easy conversation. It had been almost weeks since they'd spent a night apart. She missed Kojo. She was acting pathetic. "Come on," she thought, rubbing a hand against her temple. "you can't spiral everytime you get in a little fight with your boyfriend," But it wasn't a little fight. And it wasn't just a boyfriend, it was TIM.

She'd gone and royally fucked up with Tim, who she was quite certain was the love of her life.

BLEEP BEEP

The microwave let out a loud screech, breaking the silence of her apartment. Just then the door slid open. "Tim?"

But it wasn't him.
He hadn't magically recovered from the trauma of her words, and decided to come make things right. But the person who came in wasn't half bad.

"Just me," Tamara said, giving Lucy a knowing smile. "Where's Tim? Doesn't he usually just come home with you?"

Lucy groaned, planting her head in her hands. "No we're 'taking the night off'," she mumbled, not fully wanting to let on what happened tonight.

Tamara pushed the door shut, and locked up all three locks lucy had demanded they install (she'd seen too many home burglaries). "Oh, why?"

"uh," lucy wiped some of her hair out of her eyes and looked up at her. "Today was a shit show. A CLOWN show actually. Literally" Tamara raised an eyebrow, tugging off her white jean jacket. She would definitely be asking more about the emphasis on clown.
