In the early morning one girl woke up with the sun shining in her face, disrupting her from her peaceful slumber. Anthea opened her eyes and saw golden, taking a few good seconds for her eyes to register her surroundings. The Aphrodite kid got out of bed, excited for the day, for today was the day everyone else except her best friend despised."Capture the flag" was everyone's least favourite Friday special activity, everyone knew when the Aphrodite and Athena duo or the double 'a' duo were on the same team it was over for everyone. Today however was different. The double 'a' duo weren't a duo this time, Anthea was split up from her dearest AnnaBeth. AnnaBeth being on blue team and Anthea being in the red team, with everyone's favourite... clarisse!
Thea met up with Grover and AnnaBeth for breakfast, getting a good meal to prepare for their busy day, after all breakfast is the most important meal of the day they say. Thea never really believed it, sometimes skipping the oh so important meal to catch up with people or do some other small activity.
Usually every Friday everyone would have at least one or two hours of training after breakfast, a small break before lunch then that's when the games begin. "I can't believe we're against each other" Thea pouted, the separation anxiety already seeping into her bones. She huffed, but just as quick as her frown appeared to her closets friends her huge smiled came even quicker, especially when she saw out the corner of her eye she saw one of her favourite people.
"Luke!" She had no care in the world if people stopped their conversations, whispered and stared, she was in her own little happy world. The older boy stopped his conversation with the new kid who Thea could just see past Luke's tall figure.
Thea followed her thoughts and quickly ran up to the boy. "Morning Luke," she spoke to Luke before she turned her head and started introducing herself to the new boy, Percy, if she remembered correctly. "Hi, I'm Anthea, but everyone calls me Thea." She put out her hand to him and waited for him to react. The blonde curly haired boy shook her hand and gave her a huge smile.
"Hi I'm Percy, Percy Jackson." He was already mesmerised by her. Before anyone could say anything further, someone had walked in between the group straight for Percy, knocking him off his feet almost if Luke wasn't there to catch him. Then clarisse pushed him down, that time Luke couldn't help him, she was too quick.
People all around were starting to gather around and get a look at what all the commotion was. AnnaBeth and Grover kept back letting their friends handle the situation, Which they knew they'd do well with.
"Woah, hey knock it off clarisse, it's his first day, come on" Luke told her but clarisse paid no mind to him, her sole focus on the blonde boy on the ground, smirking as Thea helped the boy up.
"Wait so this is the kid who killed the Minotaur. Is that right?" Percy completely clueless and confused answered her truthfully, clarisse wasn't buying it. "Yeah?"
"I'll bet" Thea knew exactly where this was going. She understood clarisse's side, how can a new boy kill a whole Minotaur without any training? everyone had the same question to, but no one questioned it.
"Look, you want attention around here, dummy?" Clarisse didn't back down and only questioned him further, intimidating him.
"You better be ready for it when it comes" by now Percy mustered up as much confidence as he could to cover up the scared emotions he felt. Clarisse tried scaring him more pulling a scary face moving closer to him, intimidating him.
Thea had to give it to her, it was working, but it was no way to treat a new kid at camp. Everyone started laughing and clarisse turned her back towards the group. "Well she seems nice" atleast percy had a backbone, didn't take it to heart.
"Ares kids" I responded. Luke explained further,
"They come by it honestly." They kept on moving through the camp, slowly. "Why don't they mess with you guys?" Thea let out a soft chuckle. Luke following which made Percy even more confused about it all.
"They know better." Luke explained and Thea continued. "Plus clarisse is my friend. Although she seems scary, she's not that bad, just misunderstood." Which was completely the truth. Thea valued all her friendships and during her time here she grew to understand and befriend the camps mean girl. "Some say we look alike, I don't really see it" ironically.
"Luke's the strongest swordsman at camp" Chris, Luke's best friend told Percy, gloating his best mates achievements. That clicked a thought into Percy's mind...
"So they leave you alone because of 'glory'?" Although he wasn't wrong, that definitely wasn't the way to sort it out, oblivious as he is Luke just nodded, unaware of where Percy's conversation was going.
"So if I get glory, clarisse wouldn't mess with me either?" Thea was already shaking her head. "Exactly" two boys coming up with ideas is a bad mix destined for destruction, was there to correct them. "And people think I'm a big deal?" This was already getting out of hand and Thea knew exactly where this was going.
"Well sorta but -" Luke started but Thea finished, "no!" To in his own head, Percy continued. "And my dad's got no choice but to claim me..." Thea butted in to stop whatever idea Percy was conjuring.
"You can't force the gods to do anything, believe me." Percy paid no mind to her comment as much as he would listen to her, he though he was on a role.
"well, yeah but... it would make it harder for him to pretend I don't exist, right?" Thea knew somewhat, what Percy was thinking, and being truthfully honest, she understood where he was going but she already knew it wouldn't work out.
"Maybe" Luke answered, "well great, where do we start?", and with that Percy smiled, walking off to start his journey of glory. Thea wanted nothing to do with his little plan so she left the two dim witted boys and went to find AnnaBeth.
