Chapter 9- First day at the Academy

I stood in front of the classroom and looked around. I saw all the main characters from my spot. Then I noticed Hinata. I smiled and waved at her. She turned bright red and turned her face away from me.
Suddenly I felt someone staring at me. I looked up to see Sasuke. He was seated on my right side near the window.
I only smiled at him. He widened his eyes and looked astonished. I don't blame him. I basically have some of his brother's features. The eyes, they say.

Iruka looked at me expectantly.
-Please introduce yourself- he said.

-My name is Ruri. I hope we can be friends!

I could see boys with hearts in their eyes but what surprised me was that some girls were trying to hide their blush.

Geez am I that attractive? I guess it's Uchiha's genes.

-Now, do you have any questions for Ruri?- asked Iruka.

A couple of students raised their hands. I let out an awkward chuckle.

I looked around and chose.. Sakura.

-You with beautiful pink hair!

Sakura blushed a little.
-Do you like anyone in this class?- she asked.

-Romantically? No, I'm too young for that..

-How old are you?- asked Ino.

-8- I stated.

-So you're 2 years younger than us?

-If that means you're 10, then yes.

I heard murmurs around the class.

I looked to the right to see Sasuke.. waiting patiently with his hand raised.

-You with dark hair!

-What is your last name?

I dreaded this question, but reluctantly replied- I don't have a last name.

I saw Sasuke furrow his brows and look down on his desk.

-I can't bare to look at him like that-I thought- Afterall he's alone here.. Maybe the time will come when he finds out..

I saw a lot of other students raising their hands, but Iruka silenced them, saying it's enough.

-You can choose any seat available- he returned to me.

I nodded and started searching. While I was walking through the classroom I could feel Sasuke staring at me.
-He won't leave me alone will he?-I thought.

I looked ahead to see an empty seat next to Naruto. I quickly ran up to him. The blond boy widened his eyes and stared at me with a blush on his face. I, while still smiling turned my face towards him.

-Yes?- I asked with a gentle voice.

He dropped everything he was holding and turned away from me.

I chuckled at that.
Finally, when he got enough courage, he looked back at me and asked:
-Why did you choose to sit next to me 'ttebayo?

-You just looked like a cool guy that's why- I replied.
He widened his eyes.

-You're not scared of me?

-Why would I be?... What's your name?

-Uzumaki Naruto dattebayo!
I chuckled.

-Nice to meet you, Naruto.
He smiled at me.

The class, to say the least, was boring. But I got a chance to talk to Naruto, so I was happy.
