TW: Parental Domestic Abuse
James and his daughter were sitting at the table eating dinner. His daughter, Alice, barely looked at him, she just ate in silence. Apparently this was the wrong thing to do.
"What? Am I not good enough for you?" James said.
Alice flinched at his raised voice.
"You think I'm a failure, don't you?"
She refused to look at him, she just continued to eat.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you." James ordered.
She finally stopped eating and slowly looked up at him, filled with terror.
"You think it's my fault your whore of a mother left us, don't you."
"No." Alice squeaked out.
"You're lying! You think it's my fault. Well, I got news for you. It's not my fault. It's your fault. If you were never born, she would still be here!"
James jumped from his seat, causing it to fall back. The child cowered in her chair.
"Don't hide away from me, child!"
James grabbed the side of the table and threw it aside, causing all the dishes to fall and crash on the ground.
"Look what you did! If you had just talked to me, this mess wouldn't have happened!" James yelled, throwing blame on his daughter.
"It wasn't my fault!" His daughter cried, tears filling her eyes.
"Wasn't your fault! Then I suppose it's my fault then!"
James walked to his daughter. She got out of her seat and ran behind it.
"How dare you! You don't run and hide when I'm talking to you!"
James grabbed the chair and threw it across the room, but as he threw it, the chair caught Alice in the nose. She immediately yelled out and grabbed her nose.
"That's what you get for hiding from me!"
James got closer to his terrified daughter.
"Do you know what an abortion is? It's what you should have been!" James yelled.
Alice yelled and ran away from him, but she didn't get too far. James grabbed her by the arm and pulled her back.
"What did I just say! Don't run from me when I'm talking to you!"
Alice screamed out in terror, and James had enough. He pulled his arm back behind his other shoulder and backhand slapped his daughter. He hit her hard enough that he lost his grip on her and she fell to the ground.
Alice looked back up to her father, hand over her cheek, revealing her nose was bleeding.
"See what happens when you don't listen!" James yelled.
