Jason was in his basement, working on a new helmet. He had his welding mask on. Whenever he was free, he was usually making a new helmet. His basement was littered with his gear. He's been working nonstop for the past 3 hours. Today was his day off, George and Susan were planning a vacation, Jeremy and Mackenzie were helping Isabel recover, with some help from Chelsea. Jason really had nothing else to do. Unfortunately, thanks to his speed force, when he ran or he accessed the speed force, everything got slow and really boring. But he wouldn't trade his powers for anything.
Then he heard the doorbell. He looked up, waited, and then shrugged.
"Must be the mailman."
The bell rang again.
"Or not."
He put his mask down and headed upstairs. And in the other side of the door surprised the hell out of him.
"Mom? Dad? What are you doing here?"
"Our grandaughter was raped, of course we are here." His mother, Haley Maxwell, said.
"That was a month ago and that's why you're here, why are you at my place?"
"We just left Jeremy and Mackenzie's place. We had to see our other son." His father, Jordan Maxwell, said.
"Ok, that makes sense. Do you want to come in?"
"Absolutely."
Jason stepped aside from the doorway and allowed them to walk in.
"Now, Isabel said you made a new arcade machine, son. I would love to see it." Jordan said.
"Of course." Jason said masking a fake smile.
He went to his basement door as his parents set their bags down. Once he was downstairs, he took off, speeding in circles and cleaned the room up. Leaving no evidence of his nightly duties.
"I really need a better base of operations." Jason whispered.
He heard footsteps coming down. His father walked over to the arcade table. Jason turned it on for him.
"This is incredible, son." Jordan said.
"Thanks, dad."
"You know, Jason, you are wasting your talents at the Science Center." Haley said.
"And here we go."
"Jason, you're an incredible engineer. You should be looking into a better paying job. Weren't you looking into working at that S.T.A.R. Labs?"
"Yeah, but the St. Louis lab shut down after the particle accelerator exploded." Jason explained.
"How abou-" His mother began before Jason cut her off.
"Sorry, mom, for interrupting, but if Isabel's," Jason paused, still refusing to say it, "happened a month ago, what took you so long to get here?"
"Work. We couldn't drop what we were doing at the moment. Trust me, honey, we tried so hard to get here sooner." Haley explained.
