Jason was standing in his kitchen with a mug of coffee in his hands. What was he doing? He was having an uncomfortable conversation with his sister-in-law, detective MacKenzie Maxwell.
"How did you figure it out?"
"Jason, I'm a detective."
"And there are other detectives at your precinct. How did YOU figure it out before anyone else?"
"I do have one distinct advantage over the rest of them."
"Oh yeah? What's that?"
"You're my brother-in-law."
"I guess that could help." Jason replied as he sipped his coffee.
"And to be honest, I wasn't able to fully figure it out until," She hesitated for a moment, "It happened."
Jason knew exactly what she meant. What happened to her daughter.
"That's when I put the pieces together. How I figured it out. The way you spoke to Jeremy and I about what happened. It reminded me of you. I've known you a long time, Jason. Long before you got your powers. I know you care about Isabel, you've always been great at looking out for her. The way you talked, it wasn't just some vigilante heartbroken at the atrocities of people and the city. It was a man heartbroken at what happened to his family."
"I guess being a detective and in-laws with me does help. But can I ask you something? Why not arrest me? I'm certain there is a big promotion to be gained by turning me in."
"Oh, there is. But I don't turn you in because I believe in you. You're a good man willing to do horrible things to horrible people. Now, I may not agree with your methods all the time, but you go after people who have done horrible things, people no one else will dare go after."
"I don't need a warrant to enter someone's place. I just do it."
"Who else knows?" Mackenzie asked.
"George and Susan, the Flash, and about all the heroes involved in fighting against those Nazis in Central City a few months ago."
"That's it?"
"Well, Susan's ex-boyfriend, Gerry, knew."
"Gerry, the abusive ex, right? The one you killed?"
"Yeah. I revealed myself to him right before killing him."
Mackenzie sipped on her coffee.
"You know, I'm still not fully comfortable with hearing about your kills."
"Right, sorry."
"Look, Jason, I appreciate what yo-" Her phone started ringing. She quickly answered it. "Detective Maxwell." Pause. "What?" Pause. "Are you sure?" Pause. "Fuck. Alright, on my way." She hung up.
"What's going on?"
"There's a UFO at the Arch."
"Wait what?"
