I had a movie night with the guys tonight. It would be our first in months. Even though I wasn't hanging out with the guys, I've been spending time with Nic's client, Dave. He would meet the guys tonight since I invited him to movie night. After the drama between us, I want to get our friendship back on track, even though nothing will ever be the same. I had the pizza popcorn all setup, waiting for the guys to arrive. There's a knock on the door; Wayne is there with Kay behind him. I hugged them both and welcomed them in. Before I closed the door, I saw Dave walking up. I hold the door open, and he comes in and kisses me. I notice the look between Wayne and Kay but ignore it. I grab Dave's hand, and we walk into the family room.
"Guys, I'd like you to meet Dave. He and I have been seeing each other."
"Dave, these are my best friends, Wayne and Kayden."
"How long has this been going on," Kay says with an attitude I roll my eyes.
"For a couple of months, I say."
Wayne nods and gets up. They do that guy handshake that all guys seem to know. Kay looks at Wayne and me and shakes his head towards Dave. He grabs a slice of pizza. I roll my eyes at him.
"Now that that is over, let's watch the movie.
I start the movie, but I'm not focused on it. I think about these past couple of years, and as much as I want to regret some of it, I don't. I'm glad that I met Dave and still had my two best friends because, at the end of the day, my life wouldn't be the same if I didn't have them in my life. Plus, I'm excited to see where this thing goes with Dave and me.

After everything that happened with Jason and the mother of his children, he finally put a restraining order on her, and he asked for full custody of his children. I couldn't blame him. That witch had gone too far this time. She ended up breaking his arm that night, and after we left, she did more damage to his car. The neighbors ended up calling the cops, and she was arrested. Hopefully, she learned a lesson with her psycho ass. As for the two of us, we are still together and working on building a future together. I love spending time with him and the kids; we have become even closer. Jason was always meant to be more than my best friend. He was my soulmate. I had just gotten home from work, and it was quiet in the house. I thought I would start dinner since I was the first home, and I figured he would pick up the kids. I went to the bedroom to drop off my stuff and change into something comfortable before I started dinner, and there he was in front of the bed on one knee, with a beautiful diamond ring in his hand.
"Keisha, I've known you nearly all my life, and you have always been there for me. You've seen me at my lowest and been there for me when I dealt with all the wrong women. I love you like I have loved no other, and I hope you will marry me."
I couldn't do anything but nod my head. He got up
"Yes?"
"Yes," I say, and he slipped the ring on my finger and kissed me deeply.
I couldn't believe I was getting married to my best friend. Who knew that finally admitting to my feelings would lead to this? I couldn't wait for what our future held.

Today was the day Chris and I were moving in with each other. I couldn't believe we were at this stage of our relationship. I was moving in with the man I had loved since high school. Sure, I lost some friends along the way and may have missed out on other relationships, but it was worth it to be here. Chris was moving the boxes into our new home, and he looked perfect. I was so focused on Chris that I wasn't paying attention to my sister.
"Wow, really nice y'all got the rest of your lives to get lost in each other," Nei says
"Shut up, Neihani"
"Anyway, are you gonna help unpack this kitchen or not? This is your house."
"Speaking of house, are you sure you are okay with me moving out?"
"Yes, I already have a new roommate," she says
"Is it someone I know?"
"Yep, she says"
"I know it's not-" she cuts me off
"No, it's not him. He and I haven't spoken since I discovered the ole girl is pregnant; it's Jay."
"As in our old best friend, Jay."
"Yes, Nise"
"Oh well, that's good," I say, not really knowing what to say
"I talked to him. I am hoping that since we live together, meaning he will see you and Chris, you guys can move all and try to build a new friendship."
It was like my sister trying to fix things, but I don't know if our friendship with Jay was repairable. He said that we were not his best friends. I was so focused on thinking about our issue with Jay that I almost didn't notice the little smile my sister had on her face.
"Is there something going on between you two?" I ask
"No, we are just friends. He's really been there for me." I stared at her, not believing her, but I would have to wait and see. Before I could question her, Chris walked in with a guest.
"Hey," Jay says
"Hey I say back
"Nei said you two needed some help moving in."
"And you volunteered?" I asked
"Well, Chris and I talked, and I thought it was time you and I spoke. I mean, I saw this coming since high school, so I shouldn't have been in my feelings anyway. "I just nod my head. The two of us go and talk in private.
"I thought a lot about what you said," I say as we sit on the sofa.
"What I said when?" he asks
"that night we talked when I called you over; you were right. It was presumptuous of Chris and I to think that because you were back and here, we could just go on like nothing ever happened. I was a bad friend because I should have talked to you back in high school about what was happening, and I definitely should have reached out when you left. I hope that you can forgive me." I say.
"Forgive us," Chris says out of nowhere and sits beside me. I notice Nelhani by the wall, staring at us but not saying anything.
"I've already forgiven you guys." Jay says, "I just wanted to clarify that our friendship will not be like in high school. We are not those kids, and I'm sure there are things we need to learn or relearn about each other." I nod my head in agreement. We talked some more, and then he helped us with boxes. After we were done, we all sat in the living room, and Chris ordered pizza. When he's done, he sits beside me, kissing me. Jay doesn't make a face or anything, and I smile and grab Chris's hand as I look around my new home. I'm surrounded by people I love, and I can't wait to see what the future brings for us.
