The Alpha and Her

Days passed and Athena avoided Luther.

She was in the library , Phillips walked in with Liam and Luther.

" could you come out for a sec , we want to talk to you " , she got up and followed them out.

" so Liam is introducing me to his parents tonight , I was wondering if you could come with me " , " me? " , " yes I mean you're the only family I have " , " you guys are family? ".

" it's a long story but can you? " , " uhmm sure " , " great Luther will fetch you at 6 " , " why must he fetch me? " , " well you don't know where Liam lives an..." , " I do , I'll go by myself ".

" what ? No " , " this isn't up for discussion Luther " , " you have been avoiding me for the past few days and I actually was understanding about that now you don't want to go with me why? ".

" tone your voice down or I'll slit you tongue out and tone it down for you " , " Athena if you're not my Mate why are you avoiding me? " , " the bond will last up to a week , if we're in the same place all the time it will take longer to disappear.

I am not avoiding you , I am trying to keep the distance so I don't confuse you further " , " isn't that something you should discuss with me? I am the one who is with you in this don't I have an opinion?.

What if I don't want it to disappear? What if I actually like you ? ".

" this is no time to joke around pup " , " I am not joking " , " I don't want to mate with anyone, so give it a rest " she pushed past him and got back into the library.

He was about to follow her but Phillips held him " don't push her,  she has her reasons , next time instead of trying to confess your feelings to her , try and ask her how she feels about relationships and Mates " , Luca walked past them and got in the library.

He walked out with Ethena " you're not the only Alpha affected by the bond its just stronger with you because you were near her " , " Luca feels the same ? " , " yes , I have to go " he kissed Liams forehead and walked away.

Luther sighed " do you really think she's not my Mate? " , " I think our problem here is what you think , you look like you hope it's her " , " I do , I really do , even if she's not my Mate , I still want her ".

" then act like it , stop trying to force her , from what Phillips has told me , she's never dated nor been  interested in any kind of relationship,  he gets sad when he talks about her.

But he did say this was the first time he's seen her happy and at peace especially after you took her to the arcade " , " really? " , " mhhh just give her time , think about how the bond is affecting her as well.

I mean it's not nice to bond with someone then have all that taken away because they're not really yours ".

" you're right , mhhh look at you all Mr love know it all " they both laughed.

" so how is it? " , " I am still getting used to it , I've never imagined my Mate would be a man so we're taking it slowly trying to let me ease into it.

But Phillips is the easiest person I've met , he doesn't lie , always honest , always assuring,  he always asks if I am comfortable with certain things before he does anything so really I am not complaining.

But the meet with my parents later is kinda making me nervous I don't know how they will feel ".

Luther placed his hand on Liams shoulders " you have me , Phillips and Athena why are you worried?.

Yes they might need time to ease into it like you but he's your mate that won't change.

I am happy he's your mate , Phillips is a wonderful man a protector,  he will always make you happy and your happiness is all that matters to us ".

" thanks buddy I thought you'd curse me out and call me a fagott " , " I don't care about such , I've never been homophobic before , I understand that mates are chosen for us by the Goddess.

And she knows what's best for us " they hugged.

They walked to orphanage,  they spent the rest of the day there.

Later on Luther waited outside for Athena so they can walk together to Liams house.

" what's this? I told you I'll go alone " , " I come in peace , I promise " , she sighed.

" I am sorry I was being pushy and not taking time to understand how this whole thing made you feel.

I'll try and keep my distance till you're ready to talk to me again , but for now please let's walk together even if you don't say anything to me , I won't bother you either".

She nodded walking away he followed behind her " I am leaving on Sunday " she voiced , " you're leaving ? So soon ?" , " mhhh I've done what I came here for , after Liam and Phillips settle down I'll leave ".

" can't you stay a little longer " , " I can't stay here forever , eventually I need to leave , this is just the right time before,  I get too attached " she voiced.

Luther could hear the pain in her voice , he turned her around and hugged her , she didn't have time to react she just let him.

" I don't think it's the bond Athena , I think we both know we are mates and you're just not ready " , " Luther let go " , " please just give us a chance " , " I said let go " she was now angry but trying so hard not to let her powers out.

She walked off but Luther held her hand turning her back around , she yanked her hand " I love you Athena , for fucksakes,  I've been inlove with you since the first day I saw you.

I don't care about the stupid bond , I love you " , she walked off but he yanked her again.

" let go off me " , " stop running say something " , " I am moving I'll be staying over at Luca's place till its time for me to leave " , " you will do no such thing " , " you don't get to tell me what I can and cannot do ".

" Athena !" , " you're so selfish,  all you ever talk about are your own emotions what about mine?.

How do you think I'd feel when it's time for me to leave? I can't be with anyone my whole life revolves around protecting these nations.

That is what I was born for , leave me be and find your mate,  stop trying to make things harder for me ".

" how am I making things hard for you? Why aren't you telling me how you feel? , Athena why won't you talk to me ? Why are you so upset? Do you hate me that much that you'd rather spend your last days here away from me than with me ".

" I don't hate you " he moved closer to her closing the gap between them " Luther please ju..." he cupped her cheek his fingers rubbing her ear , she leaned into his touch.

He kissed her forehead " please don't go , stay with me " , " Luther it's not t..." he connected his lips to hers.

She froze , but her lips moved in sync with his , he pulled her closer , as the kiss got heated.

Her hand on his chest trying to balance herself as her legs gave up , she was losing herself,  getting lost into him completely.

They broke the kiss both gasping for air , Luther had his forehead on hers " please don't leave atleast spend your last days here with me " he whispered,  " okay " she moved away from him.

She felt suffocated by his scent , why was it so strong today , she couldn't focus.

" we should go " she started walking , he followed,  he walked behind her , he too couldn't believe what just happened and didn't know how to face her.
