Chapter Two

School. Perfect, just perfect, I hope you can hear the sarcasm in my voice.

I made my way down stairs in order to get my breakfast, a glass of juice and a piece of toast. Noelle was in the kitchen, reading the newspaper.

She looked up and smiled her most beautiful smile, "Did you sleep, well after the..."

She didn't finish her sentence, and I just nodded and made my self comfortable in a chair.

"I'm sorry Alisa." She said.

I looked up, "Don't say that Noelle. It was not your fault."

"It was neither yours Alisa."

"I'm not that sure about that." I muttered. I stood up and made my way to my car, it was a black Aston Martin my father had given me as a present for my birthday before he died.

I opened the door to the car and hopped in, watching my reflection in the rearview mirror. My black hair hung lose up to my waist, my white skin contrasted against it, making my eyes which today were grey look brighter than usual.

Yeah I was stunning, I thought. But all that thanks to the prophecy.

The state of Missouri was now my new home, I moved here with Noelle, once my parents died six months ago. I still can't quite remember how they died, sometimes I have flashbacks of what happened, but they don't show much.

Noelle was a friend of the family, she was my private teacher when I first knew about the powers the necklace held, and she teached me how to use and control them.

I parked the car in one of the vacant spaces in the parking lot, and made my way to the big doors of Jefferson High. As I entered home room I heard the low whispers of people talking and turning around.

"Oh my god! Look!"

"Who is she?"

"New girl."

I began to feel a little nervous and I felt how the necklace began glowing due to my mood change. I quickly hid it under my shirt. Most of the seats where taken, except a vacant space next to a red haired girl, I made my way up to her.

"Sorry, can I sit here?" I asked.

She tossed back her red curls and looked at me. "Yeah sure. Mmm... I'm Mandy."

"Alisa, thanks!"

A group of students were sitting across from me, they were laughing and turning their heads back and forth in order to see the new students who had come this year.

"Man she's hot." Whispered one of the boys across... a bit too loudly.

A small brunette girl looked at him sternly, "Martin don't say that, she'll hear you!"

I giggled and opened my sketchbook, but before I had a chance to think what was going on, I found myself trapped in a vision. My eyes lost their focus and my mind travelled into a different place. I suppressed a gasp as the necklace began pounding; I felt how my hand travelled quickly around the pad, with smooth turns, and agile leaps, drawing the things that occurred in my vision.

"Hey," a voice behind me snapped me out of my thoughts.

Fighting against the blindness that pulled me back to the vision I looked up and found the boy who before sat across from me, looking at my face, "Mmm.. hi."

I turned in my seat and dared to take a peek at what I had drawn. It was a portrait of a boy.

Who is he? I asked myself. I did not know him.

I stared again at the drawing and was mesmerized by the beauty of the person, his features were perfect, it was as if someone had gathered all the beauty in the world and represented it in this person.

"So... you're new?" pressured the boy.

I smiled at my self, can't he tell that by now? Man he's slow.

I looked up at him with a smile across my face, "Yes, my name is Alisa, I'm new, Yes I already have a someone showing me around, no I don't have a boyfriend, no I will probably not go on a date with you, yes I probably am acting like a bitch right now, no it is not of your concern why I am acting this way, and yes please I would like you to leave me alone if you could." With that I turned my back on him, leaving him with a shocked expression on the face.

I turned my head just in time to hear a soft laughter from across the room, a girl was perched up gracefully on a stool, she had a small figure, copper spiky shoulder length hair and the most amazing violet eyes. I mean, this girl was just perfect looking. She was ... wow! I studied her with a careful expression on my face, but it was just then that she realized I was staring at her, she looked straight back at me, her big violet eyes boring into mine. Something inside of me wanted to understand the meaning of her gaze, but another and more stronger part of me wanted to jerk back.

Just as I broke eye contact with her, a burning sensation came from my forearm. I immediately rolled my sleeve revealing the blue mark on my forearm, which now was pulsing incredibly. I fought back the desire to cry.

The girl was still looking at me her expression full of concern; she stood up abruptly and stared at the necklace hanging from my neck. It was glowing with a bright blue light prepared to form the magical aura that would protect me from any harm... but there wasn't any harm here, was there?

I closed my eyes and brought my hands to press the sides of my head, struggling to control the power from the amulet. "Vox adeo mihi." (Power come to me.)

In a heartbeat all the light from the amulet decreased until you could only see the now blue colored stone. The girl walked quickly out of the room, but not before she looked at me one last time.

As she left the class I suddenly felt cold, who was that girl? And why had she activated the amulet? And most importantly, why did the amulet turn blue?
