Saturday, 2:03pm, Bridgette's House
I laid on Bridgette's bed as she talked about her 'dilemma' which was what she should wear to a date with Geoff tonight.

"I could've been studying." I told her when I'd arrived with Heather and Gwen.

"Courtney? Can you at least pretend to be interested?" Bridgette rolled her eyes as she waved a hand in my face, almost breaking my zoning-out.

I kept my focus on the light teal painted ceiling and the cute skylight above me, spilling moonlight into the cozy bedroom that smelt of salt due to it being so close to the beach.

"I'm still mad at you two." I furrowed my eyebrows.

I still couldn't believe they left me at the party with no one but Duncan to bring me home.

"At least you're not mad at me." Gwen laughed and shrugged as she kicked her feet up and continued to text who was most-likely Trent, her long-time crush.

"We've apologised like a hundred times!" Heather groaned, ignoring Gwen.
"Get over it. Plus, I hear he's hot."

"HOT?!" I shouted. "Overstatement. Huge overstatement. He is disgusting." I pointed a finger in my throat as I fake gagged.

"And not to mention the most annoying person I've ever met. He's a tacky, useless, overrated delinquent with a piercing addiction." I huffed in one breath.

"Seems like he seriously pisses you off, huh?" Bridgette smiles and gives the two other girls a look I don't particularly approve of.

"What? You think I like him?" I say, appalled.

"You said, not us." Gwen puts her hands up in surrender.
"You've never been this worked up over a guy."
Heather grins as she pokes me in the shoulder.

"Absolutely not! He's my new next door neighbour and he is so insufferable. I wouldn't stoop so low!" I state as they give me unconvinced looks.

"Alright, alright." Bridgette puts her hands up in surrender. "Now: blue top or teal dress?"

DUNCAN TARUN
Saturday, 4:05pm, Beach
I'd met these guys at the party -Geoff and DJ (I think?) and they'd invited me over to the beach to hang out with them and few other guys.

I arrived on the Harley, and no chicks in sight.

Great. The bike's a chick magnet, so that was useless. Although it didn't seem to bag my neighbour.

Courtney.

She seems like an uptight bitch though, so I'm glad it was repellent for her.

"Hey, man!" the blonde in the cowboy hat exclaimed, holding a beer in his left hand and dabbing me up with his right one.

"Hey." I say, looking around for any familiar faces.

Not like I was expecting any. Moving from New York City to a random small town in Canada was a big change, or like my Dad says; 'Your clean slate'.

"This is DJ." Geoff says and grabs DJ to introduce him.
"Hi!" the huge guy smiles.
He seems... oddly sweet for such a big man.

"I'm Duncan." I pull out a hand for him to shake it, but DJ pulls me in for a hug.

"We might as well introduce you to the whole gang." he smiles and gestures for me to follow him.

Recap, I met a weird guy called Tyler, a strangely flirty guy called Alejandro and his big brother who was hanging around for some reason, but I forgot his name.

We hung around the beach, drinking beer and talking about their girlfriends.

Geoff is dating this girl called Bridgette- I'm pretty sure she's the one that Courtney was talking to at the party.

So now I know a few people, which is good considering it's my third day here.

I'm used to knowing a lot more.
But it's not like my Dad will let me go out much considering what I was like back in the States...

But on the off chance that I get bored, I can always resort to the easiest and most entertaining option: torturing my neighbour for fun!

COURTNEY SATELLA
Saturday, 9:07pm, My Room
My parents had gone away for the weekend, for a business trip.

It's not like I'm not used to it, they go almost every week- but I just thought this week they'd stay. I mean, considering it's my birthday tomorrow.

Maybe it's a surprise?

My birthday's the 4th of September and it's the 3rd, so I'm sure that my parents will come back before then.

They wouldn't forget their only daughter's birthday.

Right?

I sigh and keep typing on my laptop.

I've been doing a lot of extra-credit homework when I'm free during the autumn break, it's a great way to be two steps ahead of your subjects.

As I was about to write a new paragraph- I hear something outside of my window.

Panic rushes up my throat and I freeze.

Seriously?!

An intruder the night I'm home alone.
How ironic.

I quickly rush to my drawer and grab the pink pepper spray that Heather had gifted me and arm it in my left hand.

Tap, tap, tap.

Are they throwing pebbles?!

Great thief, really discreet.

I quietly open the window and before I hit the trigger to spray whoever's out there, a huge rock comes flying towards my forehead- but I quickly dodge it.

"WHAT THE FUCK?!" I shout loudly.
I look around and annoyance itches my skin when I see who's out there.

My new neighbour.

Should've known he was up to this.

"Oh, God." he sighs. "I am so sorry. I didn't mean to, you know- hit you on the head." he mutters.
"At least you dodged it!" Duncan smiles awkwardly.

I just furrow my eyebrows and walk away, to the stairs- to possibly pepper spray him.

I open the door and suddenly Duncan's on my porch with an apologetic look on his face and a pathetic smile plastered across it too.

"Please don't tell me you're going to spray me?" he laughs nervously as he scratches the back of his neck.

I shake my head no.

"Why were you throwing rocks at my bedroom window?!" I demand with fiery eyes.

"I was tryna get your attention." he shrugs.

"Why?"
"I was bored, I guess." he gives a toothy awkward grin. I sigh and rest my head in my hands.

"I forgive you. Just stay away from me!" I shriek.

"Can't promise that, Princess." Duncan winks as I roll my eyes at his response.

"Good night." he smirks.
"Night." I say curtly and slam the door shut in his face.
