Two days later, on Wednesday, Cooper was set to be discharged from the hospital following his appendectomy. At 10:05 am, he watched "The Price is Right" on CBS in his hospital room as the medical equipment was removed. Abby entered with a bag of clothes for him.

"Hey, Mom," Cooper greeted, receiving a hug from Abby.

"Hey there, Coop Troop," she replied.

Abby assisted Cooper to sit on the bed, his legs hanging off the edge. He retrieved the clothes from the bag and went to the bathroom. At that moment, Dr. Owens entered.

"Cooper's in the shower, isn't he?" Dr. Owens inquired.

"Yes," confirmed Abby.

"The girls from your team who visited after his surgery are excellent dancers," Dr. Owens commented.

"They are, but the moms are quite a handful," Abby agreed.

"I recall the stories you shared about them," Dr. Owens said, conversing for a couple of minutes until the shower ceased. "It seems Cooper is done with his shower."

"By my guess, he should be out... now," Abby predicted.

As she finished, Cooper emerged from the bathroom, dressed in a black Adidas tracksuit with matching Superstar shoes, his hair tied back.

"How do I look?" Cooper asked.

"You look great, Coop," Abby praised. "Ready to go?"

"Yes, I am," Cooper replied, then hugged Dr. Owens. "Thank you for taking care of me during my appendicitis and surgery. I'll remember to take short walks."

"You're welcome, Cooper. That's a good plan," Dr. Owens responded, then left to attend to another patient.

Abby then took Cooper by the hand and the two exited the hospital room, went down the hallway and approached the elevator, which arrived a few seconds later and after entering, Abby pushed a button that led to the 2nd floor and when they arrived, they exited and walked on the pedestrian bridge over Huron Street which led to the Huron/Superior parking garage and headed to the 4th level. The two approached Abby's Escalade and the dance teacher helped her son enter the front seat before she got in the driver's seat. After activating the vehicle, Abby backed out of the space she was parked in before heading down to the ground level and made a right turn onto Huron.

Three minutes later, they reached the John Hancock Center. After parking in the residential area, Abby and Cooper entered the building, ascended to the 86th floor in the elevator, and arrived at their apartment.

"Hey, Coop," Maryen greeted her grandson with a hug.

"Hello, Grandma," Cooper replied.

"How are you feeling after your appendectomy?" Maryen inquired.

"Much better, I just couldn't wait to leave the hospital," Cooper admitted.

"That's good to hear, and we understand completely."

Broadway Baby barked excitedly upon seeing Cooper return from his surgery. Cooper responded by petting the dog and settling on a sofa near the window with a southern view of Chicago.

"Mom, who's going to look after me for these three weeks while you're at the competition?" Cooper asked.

"Hollie and her daughter Brookie will take care of you. I've already spoken to them about it," Abby explained.

"That sounds like a great plan."

"I'm glad you think so. Coop, since you'll miss this competition and the next two, I have an idea," Abby said, leaning in to whisper her plan to him, prompting a grin on Cooper's face. "What do you think?"

"Mom, you're a genius. The girls and their moms will be so surprised."

"They sure will. I'll also inform Gianna. Let's keep this between you, me, and Gianna."

"Yes, it is."

Subsequently, Abby made her way to the studio, while Cooper took brief strolls around the apartment. The dance teacher would call to update him on the studio's happenings.
