~Chapter 36: Nobody Compares

I woke Niall up and told him that Adriana’s friend was here. “I don’t like her,” I growled.

“Why, babe?” Niall asked. I rolled my eyes and stared up at the ceiling, unwilling to answer. “Why, Cordelia?” he asked again.

“Because…,” I started. “She’s annoying.” I got up and went to the bathroom, leaving Niall confused. I was too shy to admit that I was a bit… conceited over Niall.

I slipped my fingers into Niall’s as we walked over to Adriana’s room. Niall looked at me funny. “Sudden urge to hold my hand? Are you feeling alright, Cordelia?” Niall laughed, but I didn’t. “No? Well, there’s nothing wrong with that.” He tightened his grip and knocked on the door.

“THEY’RE HERE!” I heard Ari squeal. The door flung open as I stared face-to-face with Ari Jones. “You again.” She narrowed her eyes at me as I glared straight back at her.

Niall shifted his fingers uncomfortably and proceeded forward, leading me past Ari. He knew I didn’t want to keep standing there. “Morning, lads,” Niall called to the boys.

I smiled sweetly at everyone, saying my morning greetings. I completely ignored Ari.

Ari proceeded to try and hog Niall the whole day. Niall, on the other hand, was not as amused. Even though he didn’t show it, I knew he was uncomfortable with Ari always following him around. “Niall!” Ari called from across the room. She ran to him as I watched from Adriana’s sofa. “Do you like this shirt on me? Isn’t it cute? Right? It would be so cute if we had matching shirts. Do you want matching shirts?”

I wanted to throw a brick at her face and say, “Too bad, bitch. Niall and I already have matching shirts.” I sighed and face-palmed myself and shook my head. The other boys were also watching intently at her actions. “She’s so clingy,” I whispered to Zayn.

“Yeah, she is. Niall doesn’t seem to like her very much,” he whispered back.

“Do you think he’d ever like her?” I asked.

Zayn shrugged. “Niall can start to like a girl after a little while. It depends. Why?”

I shrugged and scowled, mumbling to myself, “I sure hope he doesn’t…” Because he’s mine.

“So, how was your day with Ari, Niall?” I asked, getting ready for bed. Ari was spending the night in Adriana’s room.

Niall didn’t reply. “What’s that supposed to mean?” he asked.

“Well, you kind of spent the whole day talking to her… I figured you liked her. Isn’t she clingy at all?”

“Naw, she’s fine…” But then Niall caught himself and stopped talking.

I rolled my eyes and walked into the bathroom to brush my teeth. “To YOU.”

            “Well…”

The conversation stopped there and we were silent when we got into bed. “Cordelia?” I heard Niall’s voice call out.

            “Hm?”

            “Nobody compares to you.”

I smiled to myself and snuggled against Niall’s chest. “Good.” We both laughed.

.:Day Three:.

I kept a distance from Niall, because I didn’t want to look just like Ari trying to hog him. Even though it was difficult, I managed to do it. At one point, Niall actually started getting into a conversation with her and they started talking more. I stuck more to the boys and Adriana. We were outside in one of her private pools. I sat on one of the beach chairs, glaring at Ari through my sunglasses. “Jealous?” Harry whispered to me from my right.

I took off my sunglasses and looked at him with my best “disapproved” look. “Why should I be jealous? Niall likes ME, not her.” Then I paused. “… Right?”

Harry smiled, and then sat back in his chair, the sunlight glistening off the beads of sweat on his chest. He didn’t reply and just closed his eyes with a smug on his face.

I wanted to grab and shake him and make him tell me Niall liked me, but I didn’t want to touch him. “Harry!” I said his name again.

He ignored me and kept smiling. I started to get a little annoyed. Harry opened one eye and looked at me. “What’s up?”

            “Niall likes me, right?”

He sat up and looked at me, squinting his eyes because of the sun. “That’s a stupid question, Cordelia. What do YOU think?”

I scowled and sat back in my chair. I put my sunglasses back on, my earphones in, and continued glaring at Ari. I watched as Niall made his way over to me. “Hey, Cordelia.” He smiled.

I didn’t smile back and pretended my eyes were closed. He touched my shoulder and I jumped. I took my earphones out and looked up at him. “What is it?” I asked sweetly.

“Nothing, I just wanted to come over and say hi.” He sat down in the chair on my left side.

“I thought you were with Ari,” I mumbled as-a-matter-of-factly.

“Aw, babe. I’m sorry. I just thought since, you know, she’s a fan--.”

“NIALL!” I heard Ari call from the pool. “I’m waiting, babe!”

I sat up. BABE? ONLY I’M ALLOWED TO CALL HIM THAT, I thought angrily. I had enough. This bitch was going to GET IT.
