~Chapter 69: It Wasn’t Your Fault
I watched in shock as Niall walked up to me and wrapped his arms around me. I hadn’t felt that way in months, but it seemed like forever. “Cordelia… Forgive me, babe. Please.”
“Niall, it was my fault… What are you talking about?”
“My mum woke up right after you left. I tried to call you but you never called back. I texted you, but it never said you read them. I started panicking and I tried other ways to contact you, but you deleted everything. I didn’t have a lot of time to try to contact you, so Janelle found your current accounts and showed them to me, so I said in an interview I was gonna go find you and--.” Niall stopped and buried his face in my neck, crying. “We were all in hysterics when you left. ALL of us. Especially Janelle and I.”
“Janelle and the boys… they’re all still willing to forgive me?”
“It wasn’t your fault.”
“What?” I asked. “But I was the one--.”
“No, you weren’t. You weren’t the one who made my mum fall. It was the heels. The heels broke, and she fell! It was never you, babe. Never! It was all a misunderstanding.”
I hugged Niall tightly, unwilling to let go. “It… wasn’t… my fault?”
Niall shook his head. “No, it wasn’t. I’m so sorry. I can’t believe I thought it was you. It’s unforgiveable.”
“But you agreed to the break up.”
“You did too, darling, but to be honest, I couldn’t get over you. I tried for those months, but stuff just got worse. I didn’t eat, I didn’t sleep, I didn’t concentrate on work at all, and management was starting to consider if I should stay or not. I knew I couldn’t continue without you. Cordelia, come back to me, please.” Niall let go of me and knelt down, sobbing, and grabbed my hands. “Please, Cordelia Delphina Sanders, I love you, and I can’t do this without you. I miss us, I miss you, I miss everything. I’m begging you, please!”
I fell to my knees, bawling my eyes out, and threw my arms around him. “Niall--.”
“Please, come back to me, Cordelia!” Niall begged again, holding me tighter than ever. “Please… I’m so sorry…”
“Niall… I’m sorry too. I’m sorry I left instead of trying to work it out.”
“The letter you wrote for me… It made me realise everything we’ve been through, and everything we haven’t been through. Come back to me, baby.” Niall leaned forward and kissed me passionately. I wiped away his tears and kissed back.
For a moment, everything was perfect. Just perfect. “I’m going back to Mullingar, Niall.”
I heard Niall break out in tears and laughs at the same time. “Thank you, Cordelia. Thank you.”

Niall and I walked up to Cornelius’ house. I knocked on the door and he opened up. Niall and Cornelius met eye-to-eye for the first time. “Oh, uh,” I struggled to introduce them to each other. “Cornelius, this is Niall, my boyfriend. Niall, this is Cornelius, my brother.”
“Brother?” Niall asked, surprised. “The guy you kept going to see at the police station was… your brother?”
I nodded. “Yeah…”
