A week had passed and I felt really weird, having a crush on someone was an all new game fro me. How did girls do it all the time? When I woke up the next morning, got dressed, and went downstairs, I saw a familiar face in the kitchen, one that I hadn't seen in a while, and wasn't expecting for at least another month.
"Hey lil' sis." It was so nice to have someone I'm used to being around, even if he is weird.
"Max! What are you doing home? I thought you weren't coming home for another week?" I was still tired, and I was not ready to tell him about Lincoln. Maybe I'll tell him after practice. Then all of a sudden, Finley and Kaylen walked into the kitchen and ruined everything.
"I wasn't, but then, all of my classes for this week, got moved to next week due to some big conference. So I thought I would come home. And I have some big news that I wanted to share in person. But you'll have to wait until tonight to find out."
"That's cr-" I got cut off by my stupid twin brother.
"Hey Max, speaking of big news, Adeline invited a boy over to watch the game on Sunday. She likes him." Finley! I was so going to kill him. I chucked my bagel at him from across the kitchen island with extra force.
"Ow! What was that for?" He knew exactly what it was for. I'm gonna make sure Kenneth and I him prank him as well as our planned victim, only his prank, will be worse. Much worse.
Max looked at me with happiness, shock, and suspicion written all over his face. "Really. My baby sis has herself a crush? So tell me, what's his name?"
"His name is Lincoln Jacobs. He's the team's new quarter back."
"And Adeline's new boo."
"Finley!" I threaten to throw my new bagel at him but he put he put his hands up in defense and I lowed my bagel.
"Wait! Lincoln Jacobs?"
"Yeah. Why?" How would Max know Lincoln.
"Is he from Indiana?"
"Yeah, he just moved here. Why?"
"Him and his brother were the best quarters back in Indiana. He was always in the paper. Especially after his older brother died in a car wreck."
"What?"
"Yeah, his brother was in the car with his drunk friend one night after a night of celebrating what what ended up being the biggest game of their lives. His friend was swerving all over the road until a semi came around the corner and hit them. The friend lived, but his brother died in the hospital. I guess him and his family wanted a freash start and to get a
"Wow." I was in shock. I had no idea, but then who would share something like that to some people he just met? I just assumed that one of his parents got a new job or something like that.
"The family hated the friend after that. I would too. I mean, because of him they lost their son." Before I could say anything, my mom was rushing us out the door.
"Hurry kids, don't be late. Especially Finley and Kaylen since you two were late to your first two periods yesterday."
"I'll drive you Ads."
"How would I get home after practice then?"
"I'll pick you up. Then I can get to meet this Lincoln. You know, since I'll have to leave Sunday anyway."
"You're not going to stay for the game?"
"Nah, I have an early class on Monday."
"How early?"
