The next day, I woke up at four in the morning, way before anyone else in the house was up. I had gotten so much sleep the day before, I couldn't sleep any longer. I got up and decided to hop in the shower, trying not to wake anyone up. I would have gone for a run, but then remembered what Jackie said yesterday, and that if I did, Coach and William would have yelled at me.

After I got out of my shower, I put on some sweats and an old  t-shirt. Then I put my blue Under Armour hoodie on. I grabbed my phone off of my desk and went down stairs to make myself some breakfast. After I had my bagel in the toaster, my phone buzzed really loud and made the counter vibrate. I quickly picked it up before it could wake anyone up. Then I looked down at it to see who was texting me at four thirty in the morning. It was a text message from Nick.

It said, "Are you up?"

I replied, "Yeah. I couldn't sleep."

"Too much sleep yesterday?"

"Exactly. Why are you up so early?"

"I was worried about you." What was I going to say to that?

Finally I came up with a response. "Why were you worried about me?"

"I thought that you might be depressed that you couldn't practice for the rest of the week, or next week."

"I'm fine."

"Coach put me on babysitting duty. So I have to watch you and make sure you're okay and not wallowing."

"I'm fine Nick."

"Adeline, I know you're not." He was right. Nick has always been right about me. He knows me better than anyone, even if he won't admit it.

"I know. But what else am I supposed to do?"

"I have an idea and you're going to have to trust me. I'll pick you up before school. After school, meet me at my truck."

"Why? What's your idea?"

"You'll have to wait to  find out."

"Okay. I'm trusting you Nick."

"I'll see you in a few hours."

"Bye."

"Bye."

I had been so caught up with texting Nick that I had forgotten about my now burnt bagel. At least I had plenty of time to make a new one.

It was now seven  in the morning and everyone is rushing downstairs to get ready for school. I had passed the time by watching my favorite TV show on Netflix, Once Upon A Time. I was so involved in my show, that I forgot what time it was until Max came downstairs.

"Hey Ads. How long have you been up?"

"Since four."

"Couldn't sleep?"

"You have no idea."

"Have you eaten yet?"

"And showered."

"Let me get some breakfast and I'll take you to school."

"Oh that's okay Max. Nick texted me. He's gonna take me. And then after school he's gonna take me somewhere I guess." Everyone in the kitchen had stopped what they're doing and turned and looked at me in confusion. I hated the attention on me.
